Comments about D-Link VPN Firewall 8 with 8-Port 10/100Mbps Switch:
Used this item to replace two separate 5-Port Linksys switches - works perfectly as a DHCP server and all equipment connected without problem. I haven't tried the VPN capabilities, but I don't need this feature.

Comments about D-Link VPN Firewall 8 with 8-Port 10/100Mbps Switch:
I use wired routers in my apartment houses and have tried NetGear once and D Link four times. The NetGear is for sale, I could never get it to work. One D-Link was stolen and replaced with a newer D-Link DIR-130, and like the older D-Links it worked perfectly. Comcast says that I must start the system in a certain order, Modem, Router, Computer, I think, but with the D-Links I just insert the router, wait three minutes and it's working; no running around, no worries about power failure start-ups, they just work every time. I also like the installed hardware firewall which reduces pop-ups. And the price is reasonable at B&H. [...]

Comments about D-Link VPN Firewall 8 with 8-Port 10/100Mbps Switch:
Had a DL-DIR-130 for 3 years until it was stolen. Always worked even after computer was shut off or power failure, none of the turn off everything then turn on the modem, wait, turn on the router, wait, turn on the computer stuff. Firewall works well to stop pop-ups, in fact I am buying two to use one as just a hardware firewall for my home computer. Bill

Comments about D-Link VPN Firewall 8 with 8-Port 10/100Mbps Switch:
Don't let the confuse (to say the least) specification misguide you. This is not a VPN client. It does not connect to VPN servers. It is just a low end router for very small offices that wish to be accessible from the outside. Not compatible with DD-WRT.
