The Power over Ethernet (Poe) Adapter from D-Link is a compact device that can be used with PoE systems to deliver power and data to 5 VDC and 12 VDC devices. This unit receives power and data via Ethernet from compatible switches. It outputs power via DC and data via Ethernet. This allows you to more easily place devices, including web cameras and wireless access points to expand your network, in remote locations where there may not be a power outlet.

Comments about D-Link Power over Ethernet (Poe) Adapter:
I am deploying a series of micro thin client Linux boxes and needed to split power and data. This box was the perfect solution to simplify installation, since our corporate network switches are all Power over Ethernet capable.
The only minor downside is that the power connector for the Linux boxes were special round mini-DIN DC power connectors which had to be custom-spliced to the standard power cords included with these boxes.

Comments about D-Link Power over Ethernet (Poe) Adapter:
I purchased these to power Network IP Cameras remotely that didn't have PoE capability. They work fine.
I had to modify one end of the power cable that goes from the adapter to the device as it has only one type/size of connector for a device. It would be ideal if they supplied a range of adapters plugs like a multi-use power adapter so it would be easy to use with many different devices without soldering a new end to a cable. Or at least offer this as an extra kit you purchase. But they don't.
