Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
First, let me say I love HP. When it comes to computers, they are my preferred brand. But I didn't like this scanner at all. I suspect the hardware, itself, is high quality--like all the HP products I've ever owned. But despite great effort, I couldn't get the scanner software to load. It's important to know that I am an advanced user. I'm the guy that all my family and friends call when they're having problems. Despite that, I tried for over eight hours to get the scanner software loaded--all with no success. After trying everything, and seeking online help, I finally contacted HP support. This is where everything really went wrong. The guy at HP told me he suspected it was an incompatibility problem. This sounded feasible. The only problem is that he wanted to charge me for support. He said the scanner was out of warranty (even though it was new and I had just received it from B&H the day before). After telling him that, he responded, and I'm paraphrasing, 'some retailers sell refurbished merchandise that is out of warranty.' I reiterated that it was new, but he still wanted to charge me. I suspect this guy was clueless, or maybe he gets some extra incentive when he charges for support, but this is not what I expect from HP. Very, very poor.[...]So, the bottom line is that I love HP, but I am thoroughly disappointed in this encounter. Further, I buy from B&H, I have bought from B&H for many years, and I will continue buying from B&H [...]

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
We purchased this scanner to replace an Epson that we have had for a couple of years. I've had three Epson scanners and they have gone downhill with their later models. The HP set up was effortless and the results are very good. Initial impression of this scanner is very positive. I had an HP scanner at work for several years and was pleased with it which is why we purchased this one for home use. The software is easy to use and I was making .pdf documents in a matter of minutes.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
Use to scan multi-generational large family photo library.
Went low$/hi-quality trade-off to begin large project, may upgrade to faster scanner.
It's slow, but can multi-task. So far so good.
This is a great scanner for price though. Easy to use and set-up. Unbelievable quality for $ trade-off.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Scanjet G4010 Photo Flatbed Scanner:
Finally! A scanner that does what it says it will do. It scans 5 slides at a time (not 2, not 4, but 5!) and does is quickly. It also scans negatives, documents, and photos. I was able to hook it up to my older Dell Notebook and it was scanning away in minutes. This is a great scanner for the price. I use it mostly to scan old slides for myself and for clients, so it gets a workout. I'm very happy with this scanner.
