Comments about Macally PHR-250CC USB 2.0 and FireWire-400 External Drive Enclosure for 2.5" PATA Hard Drive:
I specifically chose this enclosure to provide a FireWire bootable backup drive for my old 12" PowerBook G4. I installed a WD 320GB IDE hard drive in it to complete the package. (I can move the internal drive to my PowerBook if ever necessary; it's already configured to do so.) I have totally backed up my operating system and critical files to one partition on this drive using SuperDuper and have added many additional files to the other partition. I now have much more flexibility to carry more files while I am traveling. Although it runs warm, it is well within operating limits. So far I am very impressed with the performance and extra capability that this unit provides to my old PowerBook system.
