Comments about National Geographic NG-5159 Earth Explorer Small Backpack (Beige):
I love this bag, I purchased it after getting a new DSLR camera and some additional lenses. The bag is great because it doesn't necessary look like a camera bag, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable walking around and traveling. The bag is very rugged with plenty of room for camera equipment, laptop, lunch, water bottle, etc... I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone over any other bag!

Comments about National Geographic NG-5159 Earth Explorer Small Backpack (Beige):
Great pack, very rugged solid construction and looks very good. It feels like I could pull any of the straps or pockets as forcefully as I could without anything breaking, and this indeed seems to be the case. Fits heaps of stuff despite its small size. I keep camera, three lenses (18-55, 75-300, 100mm macro) and extension tubes (68mm) in the camera compartment, a 13" Macbook Pro in the computer compartment, and endless other stuff in the other pockets. The camera pocket is well padded and I feel comfortable storing expensive equipment in it without worry that a knock against a hard surface would cause damage. There are two straps included plus loops around the entire pack for strapping more equipment on. I have found that I can easily slide the centre tube of my tripod into the back loops and strap it in and it stays there very securely.
The only gripe I have with the construction of this bag (hence only 4 stars) is that in the stock position, the harness felt to me like it was attached too low to the bag, and like the pack really hung off of your back. I found that by stitching the straps to the top of the pack this problem has disappeared, and also allowed for a custom look in the way I attached the straps. This could be a personal thing but was by no means a deal-breaker. Once this small hitch was fixed I have absolutely loved this bag.
As with other bags of this type one must be careful not to pick it up when the camera pouch is open, as this may result (as it did for me) in equipment falling to the ground. This is not a problem with the product though, more just a caution to the user.
Would recommend this pack to anyone, though the smaller size might be too small for some when it comes to big trips. I wanted it small for everyday use as well as outdoor expeditions and this size is enough to fit heaps of stuff (eg I have put food and clothes in it enough for a weekend, plus camera, computer, accessories and tripod). It's good to see National Geographic signing their name to really quality products.

Comments about National Geographic NG-5159 Earth Explorer Small Backpack (Beige):
I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase of the NG-5159, Earth Explorer Small Backpack by National Geographic Society. The quality is nothing short of outstanding and I understand why National Geographic Society affixed their name and logo to this piece of equipment.
Purchased to protect my new Canon EOS 7D DSLR, I feel confident that even if I were to drop the backpack (from a reasonable carrying height), my equipment would be safe. This backpack is not well-suited for retrieving my camera in a quick draw fashion; however, it is well designed and has some nice extras, such as a protective rain pouch, tripod straps, and many well-designed anchoring points.
If I had just one concern about this superior product, it would be to encourage future buyers to opt for the medium or large size versus the small. While the pack can house my 7D and its 18-200 f3.5/5.6 lens, adding two or three more (non-telephoto lenses will be a challenge. A telephoto lens itself with my current gear would also present a challenge, although the top section of the bag could accommodate if one were willing to give up its upper "personal space" compartment.
Nevertheless, if one is looking for an absolutely excellent quality, albeit small backpack, buyers will likely be very pleased in choosing this one.

Comments about National Geographic NG-5159 Earth Explorer Small Backpack (Beige):
I own both the small and medium sized NG backpack. That should indicate how nice it is. The retro appearance and strong, confidence-inspirnig materials do not immediately scream of the camera kit within and the seams, stitching, padding and fittings all seem high quality. I can fit a body and lens and two spare short lenses or lens + flash in the bottom compartment as well as accessories in the external pockets. A small laptop such as Macbook Air or iPad can fit in the back compartment (without room to spare) and then there is the main top compartment. The medium-sized backpack actually fits more flush to my back despite its bigger size but the small one is less prone to over-filling. This suits for a day outing.

I am a begining amature photo hog... This camera bag is just the right size for the small amount of gear that I have. It easily holds My Nikon D90 and my extra zoom lens and all the small things I carry in my bag. It has an upper pouch that can hold a lunch and misc things one might need for a day Photo Shoot. It can carry my tripod and small laptop... I love this bag and as my needs grow in the photo world I have plans to up grade to the med size bag.

I really like this bag but it is small. I have a Digital Rebel XTi, 18-55mm, 55-250mm, and a Speedlite 430 stuffed into the camera compartment. It all fits, but it is tight. There is more room in the large compartment above, and all the pockets work great for organization. But I wish I went with the Medium bag. My boss has the large and that thing is huge.
The quality of this bag is top notch and it feels so very nice on your back. I really like the straps they give you to hang onto while you walk around.
