Being a Live Sound Engineer for over 30 years mixing with a mouse drives me crazy ! I am running Sonar to mix down live recording made on an Alesis HD24 from a Yamaha LS9-32. I now have 4 of these controllers running flawlessly. Three of them are in Mackie Mode for 24 channels, and One of them in a programmed BC Mode for my Master and Sub/Effect Busses. Plus you get access to the Channel EQ,Pan,Solo,Mute,A full Bank of User Defined Function Keys, and Transport Control from the control surfaces.
I have read some people having trouble using more than one of these. My suggestion...Add a seperate PCI USB Control Card (inexpensive) to your computer and you will get flawless solid connections. Don't Use a USB Hub, and I have found that you may or may not have luck with the on-board usb ports with multiple units. A seperate controller is the way to go. But if you only want just one of these, it will work fine with your on-board port. BTW... the improvement in some of my mixes in 5 minutes was amazing just being able to fix the balance quickly...
Get One...Two...Three..or More.. You won't regret it !

I work part time in video production and purchased the BCF-2000 to help speed the audio mix for the videos I shoot. After a few frustrating hours with this, it became apparent that it just wasn't going to meet my needs, so back to B&H it goes! The good news is this is a solidly built little board. I have heard complaints about the motors being noisy...there is some noise, but I'm not convinced that it's significantly more noise than any other device of this nature. It's solidly built and it feels as the faders feel as nice as any console mixer (Mackie, Soundcraft) that I've ever used. The rotary pots don't feel as nice as real rotary pots, but they feel nice enough. Now to the bad...the faders are not touch sensitive, and that really just makes this thing almost pointless. If you are just looking to set levels (Like in synthesizer software) and don't so much need the automation features, get the BCR-2000 or another non-motorized control surface and skip the motorized faders. If you actually want the motorized faders, because you intend on mixing audio and want them to help with automation -- forget it! In Soundtrack Pro and Final Cut Pro, the faders will work great to lay down an initial mix, but if you don't nail it the first time...you're in a world of hurt. The board supports 'latch' mode remixing, meaning you can play back and when you touch the faders it will let you set new levels. This sounds great in theory, but it's too difficult to get the thing to 'latch' properly. Instead you just end up fighting the faders, and the end result is all sorts of messy keyframes and audio levels jumping all over the place. So just make fine adjustments with your mouse, right? Well that's a lot harder than it seems. Instead of 2 keyframes and a linear level-change between, you might have like 30 keyframes on a simple pan. You can take them all out and try to re-record, or you can just take them out and set your volume levels manually with your mouse, but at that point...what was the purpose of having the control surface? In the end I was really disappointed...I was excited at the prospects of having motorized faders for under $500, but after playing with it for awhile it became apparent that the feature they had to cut out -- touch sensitivity -- is a very important feature indeed. Now Behringer, how about a BCF-3000 with touch-sensitive faders? That's something I could go for!

      Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL FADER BCF2000 - USB/MIDI Controller Desk - (White):

I have a home studio and I'd been looking for a small controller for my DAW. I didn't want to get a larger unit, because I just need it for Promos and commercials. I never go more than 8 to 10 tracks in a session.
Smaller units didn't seem to have enough features. So, when I decided to get the BCF2000, it basically was a great fit. When it arrived, I tried using the presets for the DAW I use. Not enough functions! After actually reading the manual, I realized I could fake my DAW into believing that the BCF2000 was a Mackie Control. The Behringer emulators work great. Now, I've got a fully functioning Controller in a tight package. And, with the great price tag, I can concentrate on beefing up my Music and SFX libraries.
After re-reading this review back, I realize I've done too many commercials for a living. But, the BCF2000 is a winner. The only downside is the faders can be noisy on playback, but if you set it to read a different bank of unused tracks, it sits quiet.
      Fantastic tool for automation!

      Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL FADER BCF2000 - USB/MIDI Controller Desk - (White):

To start off: I hate mixing with a mouse. I bought this product to help me out with my mixes (automation, quick access to tracks etc.) I was a little skeptical at first for it being under $200 but it works surprisingly well. It has a set of emulation modes that make it instantly work with many major DAWS (Logic, Protools, Cubase, Nuendo and Sonar) which is a plus. Unfortunately you cannot edit these emulation modes so you have to create your own template if you would like to make things customized. Faders work fine and write automation pretty well but can be a little jittery when reading it. The only problem I've had is that when I use it with logic, sometimes the settings for it get corrupted and I have to delete a certain file (~/library/preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs) to get it to work again. Overall its a great value, and I definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to have physical controls rather than mixing with a mouse.

      Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL FADER BCF2000 - USB/MIDI Controller Desk - (White):

It's what you'd expect from Behringer: a pretty decent knock-off of the real thing at a much cheaper price. For me this really made a lot of recording mixing more possible with Logic, at an affordable price.

The lack of touch-sensitivity on the faders hasn't been much of an issue for me.. obviously "touch" mode doesn't work well, but getting used to "latch" mode is a small price to pay for the savings. One other thing this lacks compared to something like the Mackie is an extra zero on the end of the price tag, so I'm willing to get used to things like this.

The lack of scribble strips is a pain--I'm working on a 32-channel project with this guy, so it's a decent amount of thinking to keep track of which of the four banks you're on at the moment. But actually, more helpful than scribble strips would've been LED level meters--those are much faster to visually get a sense of where you are when navigating multiple banks of channels. I was hoping that the vpot LED rings could be turned into level meters (kind of like on the Mackie tt24 mixer), but unfortunately, that's not remotely easy to pull off, at least in Logic, with LC emulation mode. Maybe if Behringer wrote a custom Logic driver instead of emulating something else.

I suppose what I should do is just buy three more of these (and still spend less than half the Mackie). But I don't do this kind of work often enough to justify that.

It does have transport controls in all of it's emulation modes, in case it's unclear. In fact, if you're wondering what all the buttons can do, go to Behringer's site and d/l the docs.

This mixer is great! I use it with ProTools 8 to mix & to control transport buttons. It doesn't have LED dispaly to show what tracks are what, but I only use the 8 with vocals. I definitely recommend this mixer..you won't find anything else like it with motorized faders in this price range, & the quality is bangin'!

The emulation modes are perfect for just about any DAW or hardware. I use mine extensively with Cuemix (828mk3), Logic 8, and protools.

It will emmulate a MAckie Control surface. It will control most settings in just about every DAW and host out there. We use it with Logic and V-Stack. The BCF 2000 is a GREAT companion to those. And the white ones look so darn cool next to our Apple Mac products!Cheers,-Terry Michael [@]
