This is my first video adapter lens that I bought and I am completely happy with it. The build quality is better than I expected. I was expecting a cheap plasticky lens but it is solidly built. I'm not sure what exactly it is made of but it "feels" like heavy duty aluminum without being too heavy. I also like the black finish compared to the silver finish from Canon and other brands so it matches the color of my camcorder.
I am using this lens on a Canon Vixia HF-11 because the ~ 40mm coverage wasn't wide enough for me. It screws in easily on the 37mm thread. It does add a little more bulk in front of the camera and very slightly throws off the natural balance of the camcorder but it's hardly noticable with prolonged use.
Be aware that this adapter is wider than most wide angle attachments and will actually give you a "semi-fisheye" look. It is not so bad when the horizon is completely in the center but expect to see some bending when on the horizon when it's off about 1/3 of the way from the center. At the Canon HF-11's widest zoom, the picture quality doesn't seem to be affected at all. I haven't done any complete tests on it but avoid zooming more than 1/4 or 1/3 of the way through or you'll start to see quality degredation. If it's fully zoomed then the video will become completely useless in my opinion. Since I wanted this adaptor to give me a wide angle view, I had no intentions of zooming through the adaptor lens - I just take it off if I need a closer view.
I do like the plastic case and the front and rear caps that it comes with it for protection. The only thing that I wished they included was another thread in front of the adaptor so I can use graduated ND filters. However, with a lens this wide I'm sure there would be some vignetting.

The lens itself is good, the plastic conversion ring for 43mm that I needed for Canon HV20, however, is really worthless. Since I new it was problematic, I screwed it in very very gently. The thing was that it began to unscrew when filming (action, some shaking was included). So I used a bit more force, but was still very gentle with screwing. After a few such steps, the lens was stable, but now, I cannot unscrew the conversion ring off the HV20. Very disappointed.

I bought this lens for my Sanyo VPC-FH1 and so far it has been better than expected. It is very wide and like it's description says it has a semi-fisheye effect. I use it mostly for p.o.v. shots where you don't have much room. So far I would say it has low CA and is very sharp compared to other W/A lenses I have had in the past.

I use this with a sony HC5 and CX105 for skydiving purposes. This lens and/or the Raynox HD5050 are THE lenses to get for skydiving if you use a HD camera.

I got a Cannon HG10 Full HD video cam, and the fisheye fit's perfectly. ( with one of the spacers )
The great thing about this fisheye is that you can see much more at the video, and it still not do the picture to bended. It's great to use for filming BMX videos, or orther action film's. the coolest thing is that, it is a HD lens so the qualiti is realy high.
there's nothing bad with this lens it's just great and cheep, BUY IT !!

I use this on my Canon HV30 and it fit fine and the camera retains its crisp sharp image quality but now in a fish-eye format. The lens shows no vignetting when zooms all the way out. I can zoom to about 5x out of the 10x before the image quality in effected. Overall a great product, I love it. The plastic threads really are not a big deal if you are careful when screwing and un-screwing the lens from the camera body.

Using this lens on Sony SR-12. I use this as 3rd camera to Sony FX1 and Z1.
Very clear throughout picture. Lens has VERY acceptable distortion on edges. I have used two other lenses in this price range and they are not even close in picture quality.
I'm very very happy with the price to performance value. It's worth 2 or 3 times more than what it sells for.
Lens is solid and very will built. Nice coating too.

This would get 5 stars if it didn't have the plastic threads!!
I wanted a wide angle that would be wide enough but not a fisheye. So I tried this lens to have fun with the kids. I really like the semi fisheye effect. I also like that I can zoom the camera in a little and nearly remove the fisheye effect as well. I use this with a Sony SR12.
One thing you cant do is zoom all the way in. the image becomes blurred due to the concave shape of the lens. But i can zoom in about half way wiht the lens on. but taking the lens off to change the shot is easy enough.

Using this lens on my consumer HD camcorder for skydiving. Definitely a step up from my "other" wide angle lens I got at a similar price. Great resolution and minimal distortion out to about 80%. Flare is minimal as well compared to the "other" lens. Highly recommended.

Sturdy design, all in all fairly good glass optics, there is apparent vignetting on the extreme wide position, not functioning very nicely on zoom. loads of aberration. for its value of money, probably good

It's a realy nice allaround lens that broaden the range if you want to film both close and further away without taking the lens of. You can soom with this lens and the image stay sharp, but at the same time you have the wide angle to capture things closer to you. It's pretty wide but there is no significant destortion of the outer corners of the picture, however if you look closely you will see a little bit of rounded corners.
Using this lens with my sony HC-5 the picture quality is realy good.

I run a amateur sports action video production company with my buddy, [@] We use Panasonic GS series 3CCD cams with these lens. Works great as a low cost solution when filming in heavy snow storms like the PacNW where you can't care about damaging equipment. Close up action shots are awesome with this lens. Put it on the rail and let your buddy smack it down.

I've been using this lens for several months with my Canon HV20 camcorder and have been generally pleased with the results. The image quality is more than acceptable for the small price tag, and the heavy all-metal build is more solid than what I expected for the price. Even though the lens is threaded for 37mm using the included 43mm adapter ring to mount to my HV20 results in no vignetting, which was my biggest concern (however there is some vignetting if you use the HV20 in still camera mode due to different pixel dimensions). While not a true zoom-through lens, you can zoom about halfway through the camera's range before the quality gets too low. All in all, a good purchase.
Expertise: Pro
Problems Encountered: Vignetting in still camera mode on HV20 (no vignetting in video mode)Not a true zoom-through lens (only good to zoom about halfway)No front threads for filters.
Items I Recommend: Canon HV20

I bought this lens for my newly purchased Sony DVD 408 from B&H.I'm tired of the narrow wide angle view that most digital cameras and camcorders provide on the market today. I use it mostly on my sailboat and other confined spaces in a Sony aquapack (I did have to make modifications on housing attachment plate to accommodate the larger lens). The calm days i use it naked. The lens is coated and has high optical qualities (though you must be aware of the sun or other direct light angles for it will give a stream flare, small starbursts and/or washout. The reason of course is there is no lens hood or threading/bayonet mount for one.) Not surprised for it is indicated in the specs. I will say some of these effects from the sun or reflected light can present a nice artistic qualities to your video work. Being that this is classed as a semi fisheye there is some tolerable barreling at the sides when shooting 16:9. All in all, this is a great lens and every time i work with it I come up with something new to add to my scenic and action filled videos.
Expertise: Pro Am
Problems Encountered: It is not a zoom through. You can really only go from ultra wide to half zoom before the image falls apart and flares into oblivion.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Kenko .5 Wide Angle
Items I Recommend: None it comes in a nice clear protective hard case with caps
