The Melodyne plugin from Celemony brings the acclaimed Melodyne processing to the plug-in format. Rather than having to work outside the main recording/editing environment, the plug-in integrates pitch and timing correction within the host application, providing a more streamlined workflow.
The plug-in analyzes the pitch and time of monophonic audio files from sources such as singers, wind or string instruments and offers the opportunity to change whole melodies, correct intonation and timing, even create harmonies with multiple instantiations, all within an intuitive interface.
Editing can also be performed with great precision to enhance or restrict vibrato, drift or change the volume and formants of every note in the recording individually. Macros are available for global quantization of pitch and time. Drum loops can also be edited by altering the position, length, pitch and volume of individual hits, edited to make the whole loop swing, or even given an entirely new rhythm through re-quantization.

Comments about Celemony Melodyne plugin - Plug-In:
Melodyne is a great plug-in for polishing up those not-so-grammy vocals. It won't make you sing better or make your voice timbre more likable, but it will make the pitch correct.
Melodyne works different than your normal plug-in. It is not a real-time processor. You have to record the audio into it & then manipulate the pitch, formant, and/or timing. It is really a breeze to use though, but expect to spend some time manually adjusting the pitches and split points of the audio. The better the original material, the easier adjustment will be. If your vocalist is right on key every time, you will not need Melodyne unless you just want to add a little pizzazz like vibrato or extra pitch variances.
The purpose of Melodyne is to be transparent and natural sounding. As if the original take was perfect from the get-go. Don't confuse this product with something like Auto-Tune, which gives you that computer-like T-Pain sound.
I intend to use this as a way to improve my vocalist's performance by recording them, then correcting all the pitches 100%, and feeding the corrected take back to them as they record a new take. That way they will attempt to match pitch with their own voice that's in perfect key. Then use the plug-in to wrangle any remaining wild notes in the performance.
