Comments about Celestron Model #44102 Laboratory Biological Microscope:
I am a truck driver, spending 4-5 wks on the road at a time. When it was obvious I would not be home in time to shop for my kids' Christmas, I began searching online.I knew I wanted to get them a microscope and almost went with another brand until I found it lacking a necessary feature. I didn't want a toy. I wanted a unit that would serve them throughout their school years. [...] When I arrived home, Christmas Day and opened it the scope and box of prepared slides I had ordered were perfect and did exactly as I had hoped in exciting their inquisitive minds. The optics are awesome. I intend to check on a 25x eyepiece, if available, but 400x is enough to keep them interested for a long while. I like the light mirror versus an actual light just for simplicity. It is as durable as the units I remember in biology class. The "made in China" sticker was the only disappointment, but overall, I have to say it is of excellant quality and would highly recommend this scope [...] Thanks folks!

I love it- easy to focus, and easy to assemble plus the fact that the price is reasonable. It's not made of plastic but of metal.

Comments about Celestron Model #44102 Laboratory Biological Microscope:
Bought this as a first microscope for my daughter. She loves it. I'm a high school science teacher and I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money but definitely didn't want to loss out on quality. I am thrilled with this purchase. The quality is comporable to the scopes I use in class labs and I have no doubt this was significantly less than the price of the other scopes. If you're looking for a great microscope that is under $100, this is a gem.

Comments about Celestron Model #44102 Laboratory Biological Microscope:
I ordered this microscope for son's birthday. It was perfect for my needs in three regards.
1.)The 3 magnification levels were great for everything we found outside that has become a specimen.
2.)I was concerned that this might be a bit delicate for my son. Aside from the obvious fragility of the optics, this thing could probably hammer nails. Don't tell my son that, though.
3.)I was worried that a light might be better than the mirror. Many of the lights get hot and my son actually loves adjusting the mirror.
We have been very happy with this scope and it's retro 50's green/blue color.
