The colors areaccurate and the detail is very good.It comes with a spare battery!!!!It charges via a computer USB port for super easy handlingand use.Although not documented- it does accept both SD and SDHC cards!The battery lasts surprisingly long and you'll get an hourof HD recording on a 2GB card!!It also takes decent stills but nothing to rival a realdigital camera.Highly recommended.(Go to Aiptek's site and get the latest firmware update foruse with Mac OSX)

Problems Encountered: No image stabilization at all- a tripod is a must.The files produced are in AVCHD spec and need to beconverted to another file format for video editing- notreally a camcorder problem but a problem with ALL AVCHDcamcorders. Future software updates may allow for nativeediting.There are no lens threads- you'll need to glue a ring to itfor lens accessories if desired!

Inside, it's pretty much unusable and if you zoom in you drop up to 2 stops of light. Outside there's usually enough light to zoom in but the zoom is really jumpy/jerky. And don't try panning, it's a mess. And don't move or even breathe cause you'll bounce the image.After a few days, I returned it.If you're filming outside, nice light, don't zoom, don't pan, DON"T SHOOT IN HD then you get a pretty decent image for posting online. But other than that, GO-HD is a NO-GO. But then it's only [$].

This Taiwanese brand doesn't get much press but that's likely because they don't spend much on advertising; which helps keep their product prices so low. Bought this camcorder after reading customer reviews and then seeing proof of their positive remarks online, and made a final decision when the price dropped (a penny) below the century mark. The included packaged peripherals sweetened the deal into a very satisfying buying experience.
It's my first camcorder, so I can't A/B. But it's fifty bucks less than its nearest competitor in this budget but fast -growing market.
Zoom is its weakest feature: I avoid using it. But in most cases no need so really no hardship.

I bought this as a teaching aid and found it fun to use with a short learning curve. At this stage of my video career the camera is better than me...I hope to improve. I bought it because of the price, but found it was no cheap toy. Well made, easy to take along and operate.
Not a professional tool, but just fine for training and fun uses.
The playback screen makes the images look very contrasty - images look fine on the computer screen. Sound is just "OK".

I bought this for my 7 year old son to introduce him to video shooting and editing. It's a good size and weight for his hand, simple to use and transfer files to iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I didn't want to spend much more than $100 in case he drops it, and I didn't think it was necessary that he shoots in 1080.

I wanted a cheap, compact, solid-state memory, HD video camera that also shot 8 megapixel stills. It shoots reasonable stills, but its 720p 30 fps video distorts rapidly moving objects. The video format is supported under XP by a patched Windows Moviemaker rather than my editing software so I plan to re-gift it to someone with an Apple rather than adapt to its quirks and limitations.

I bought it for my 9 year old, I can't stop using it. It's very easy to use and works nicely with a Mac. I have taped family events, wrestling matches, etc. I love how I can send a video to family members quickly with an email. The sound is not the greatest but that seems to be the only draw back.

I can't say this is a great camcorder, by far. However, for the money and the size, it is a nice addition to have for making very quick and convenient videos around the house and while traveling. It does not do too well in low light situations. It also suffers from noticeable shake when in the wrong hands, but again I can't expect too much for this price level.
On the good side, it does take nice quality videos in the right setting and having it record to the SD card is very convenient for me. Downloading to my iMac was quick and easy.

This little camera was a cinch to get up and running, the video quality is decent and I like that the camera catalogues the individual clips for you in a library format. (No fast forwarding or rewinding to cue up). I use this camera for personal home movies and also to record rehersals and readings for my professional (film making) projects. The sound quality is poor, but for video, a great buy.

I am amazed at how much I am enjoying this camera. It is an amazing buy for the money I spent. Sure, it has limitations. Mostly I am pleased but sometimes it is difficult to see the screen in direct sunlight and I have had a few blips that necessitated briefly removing the battery to get it functioning properly, but I love the thing.
