The Aqua Tech NEP-1 Eyepiece is an eyepiece made to fit certain Nikon cameras when used with an Aqua Tech Sport Shield rain cover. It holds the cover to the camera and maintains waterproofing.

This eyepiece fits my D700 and is necessary to secure an aqua Tech rain cover to my camera body. I use the eyepiece on my camera all the time, as it is comfortable and can reduce stray light getting between you and a good view through the viewfinder. I dropped my rig off the back of my tailgate and the eyepiece broke. Otherwise, I would have rated it 5 stars.

Just make sure you buy the right eyepiece for your camera, as well as figure out how to remove your OEM eyepiece (for a D700 - close the eyepiece, then unscrew).

It is what it is - use with the Aquatech shields. Do wish it came with directions on how to attach. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I had to ask someone how to remove my factory Nikon D700 eyepiece, then they were stumped until they remembered to close the viewfinder shield (makes sense).

Is used to hold a rain cover from AquaTech. The good thing is that they also fit the ThinkTank rain covers. Where the ThinkTank eyepiece is a little hard plastic ring, the Aqua Tech has a soft edge around it where it touches your head.

I use the eyepiece on my D3 and another on D300. For me I like something soft when I press up to the camera. The only negative is that there's some 'break in' time for it to soften - which means you need to hang in there a month or so for it to feel really good - but it's worth it.
