With the Digital Foci Picture Porter Elite, you can instantly back up your precious pictures so that you can keep snapping away. Simply insert the memory card from your digital camera into Picture Porter Elite and download images into its built-in hard drive. Never worry about running out of memory card space again.
Furthermore, with its large LCD display, you can clearly inspect the photos before deciding which to keep and which need to be re-shot. Picture Porter Elite works with all popular media card formats, including CF I/ II, MD , MMC , SD/HC Card, Memory Stick, and MS PRO and xD-Picture Card. It can also work with other card types with an appropriate card adapter - sold separately.
With its high-capacity hard drive, you can now carry your collection of digital photos and videos with you and view them anywhere. While viewing photos on Picture Porter Elite's large 3.6" LCD screen, you can rotate, zoom, pan, view EXIF information and histogram, and play picture slideshows of your images (including RAW images).
You can also connect Picture Porter Elite to a TV and share your photos and music with family and friends on a big screen in the comfort of your living room. In addition, it also supports various music and video formats so that you can keep your collection of media content in one place for easy access.
With a built-in microphone and recording capability, you can use the Picture Porter Elite as a voice recorder to record lectures, interviews, or conferences, and it can also record video straight from a TV or any other video source with a scheduled recording function. Using high-compression MPEG-4 encoding, Picture Porter Elite keeps the file sizes small for easy sharing while maintaining a high level of picture and sound quality.
When connected to a computer, the Picture Porter Elite also functions as an external hard drive and memory card reader. Use it to back up and archive digital images, music and important files from your computer through its high-speed USB 2.0 connection. Since the Picture Porter Elite is compatible with Windows, Macintosh, and Linux Systems, you can easily transfer files between computers with the different operating systems.
It also supports the PictBridge standard so you can print directly to any PictBridge compliant printer without a computer. All you have to do is connect Picture Porter Elite by USB to a PictBridge compliant printer and print JPEG photos as you view them on the screen.

Use this instead of a laptop when traveling. Pics can be reviewed, deleted, and zoom/pan'ed. despite an other review its quite clear in jpeg format. Raw pictures may only contain thumbnails, so save in raw+jpg. The foci serves as a field reviewer so you can get it right before going home and also to save cards for reuse when traveling. Add to that mp3 player and video player. Cool!

I wanted something small to carry pictures and also use to clean off my compact flash cards without carrying around my laptop. I compared it to similar brands with a 3 inch screen. Price, extra cables and the case included, made my choice. I am very happy with the product. I accidentally dropped it on the plane (off position) and it started right up. The menu and controls are easy to use, and It has ample storage. It has a zoom feature I really like, and it downloads quickly. It does everything I need and a few I don't care about, the FM Radio and the game.

I bought this because it seemed to have everything I need to justify this over the Foci photo safe:the ability to transfer photos back onto a CF card, doubles as an mp3/music player, and a big screen to review/edit down my photos while traveling.Well, the screen is next to useless! What on earth is the point of a 3.6" screen with a measly resolution of less than 80,000 pixels?!! Images (RAW and JPEG) are posterized, pixelated, and just plain ugly. Unless you're hooking up to a TV and don't need to do critical review of your images (like checking focus), the screen's pitiful resolution makes it pointless. Similar units with much better resolution sell at nearly (or more than) twice the price. The only item in a similar price range has half the storage space and not a few quirks. [...]

This unit is fast, easy to use, supports zoom/nav with ajoystick control and supports RAW (no MKIII support a/o thisreview, but I don't own that)4.0 MB/Sec speed off CF card is a pleasure.Display is not as large as the Epson, but is very crisp andat 100% it is a very good check for sharpness. By price comparison to the Epson units, I'm very pleased.(Item was a gift)

There was a lot of thought in this product and it is easy to see that. I bought this to back up my Nikon RAW photos while in trips. It is quick for the amount of data I ask it to transfer. It is a great companion (built in radio) and the connectivity is great. The photos show up larger than life on Tvs (HD tested only so far) and look great. I also use this as my carry along digital photo album now. Could the product be better...honestly yes. There are some issues I have with the layout and capabilities of the unit BUT the important thing to me is it does what I bought it for and it does it very well. If you want to travel with your photos and back them up while your out then this is the perfect product for you.

Problems Encountered: When stored in its case (which is very well made) if you connect the audio out cable (included) the case interferes with the cable and causes audio out issues. Solution: remove the case when using audio out and problem is solved. This is THE only issue I have had with this product.
Items I Recommend: Extra carry case for the included cables and remote.
