I read that I should get a spare battery. I'm glad I had a spare as one of the batteries failed to work, before I could use it once.

This battery has caused more headaches than it's worth. I've been through 6 of these for my 40G Photo Safe in less than 2 years (and i take good care of batteries). Personally i'd avoid the photo safe just because of the battery. my purpose in buying it was to store photos while traveling in E. Africa. Unfortunately the battery died and i had to plug the device in to load my CF, defeating the purpose of why i bought it.

I intended to use this battery as a spare but it either would not take a charge or would not function in my photo safe. I am returning it.

Been using this as a backup for the one that came with my PHOTO SAFE 80GB. It hasn't actually been critical yet, since the original battery works just fine and has given me about 3 fully 8GB transfers between charges, but it's nice to have the backup just in case, plus it doubles the amount of time I can be away from a power outlet (this battery plus the original). I figure it's better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have it.
