The Manfrotto 243 Car Window Mount Pod with 234RC Swivel Tilt Monopod Head is for use with a camera, binocular or spotting scope when viewing from an automobile. It can also clamp to any other thin, flat material similar to tempered car window glass. The 243 head swivels 90° in either direction on its single pivoting axis, and features a reversible 1/4"-20 mounting thread. The maximum load is 5.5 lbs, but since it clamps to glass, the max weight allotment may vary by the strength of the glass. Thus, only lighter weight optical devices should be used in conjunction with this mount.

      We we driving through an area of a lightning fire, no room for tripod, put Nikon D50 on window mount to take a night time shot of flames on mountain side. Did great for what I wanted it for.

          I had to replace top part with small ball head because it is tilt only.
          Hard to get in screw head to replace head.
          There must be other usage as it is, not for window mounting.

          Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
