Before buying this I checked online to see if others were plugging direct into their PCs. They were. Alas, when I got it I discovered it will only work well if you have a PC with a mic input that has some sort of pre-amp to increase the TP-7's very weak signal to a normal level. On my 2006 macbook and 2009 iMac, for instance, the TP-7 doesn't register at all when plugged into the line-in inputs. On my 2005 Vaio desktop, it delivers a weak signal when plugged into the mic input with the computer's input gain turned up to the max. Using a program like Audacity, you can amplify the resultant quiet recording to get a functional, if noisy result.

Bottom line: the TP-7 is best used with digital voice recorders that expect a very weak mic signal or with a pre-amplified mic input on your computer or an audio interface that has one. Under those circumstances, this looks like the winning product most users find it to be.

The audio is very clear when recorded through my Olympus DS-5000 recorder. It is somewhat uncomfortable but not too bad. Great value.

Very usefull. An don't have any 60Hz interference common to magnetic telephone pickup coils. The recordings are very clear. The cable seems to be very fragile. I'm not sure if it lasts too much...

Excellent mic for recorders and a must if you understand electronic feedback. I've owned this before but my daughters puppy found it in my coat and chewed it up. I purchased this at [...] before for [$] but they have since all closed here in Anchorage. Good buy.

Great product. I'm getting my master's in journalism and need to do a lot of phone interviews. If you plug this into the mic jack on your Olympus recorder and put the ear piece in, it not only picks up the person on the other end but you as well!

Recording cell phone conversations has always been difficult until I found the TP-7 mic.
You put the ear piece in your ear and plug the other end into a digital voice recorder's mic-in plug. Turn the recorder on and conduct the cell phone call as normal and you'll have it recorded. Most cell phones transmit interference that is picked up by the recording devices but the TP-7 is shielded so your recording is clear.

But with a regular phone, perfect.

This device is very useful for recording cellphone conversations, and also works well with fixed phone installations, although in that case a line connection device would be preferable.

I'm a writer and interview people for a living. At home, I'm set-up to record telephone interviews. On the road or at an office, the situation can be dicey. The Olympus TP-7 is light enough to always carry in my bag with a portable recorder. It works reliably and can be a lifesaver when needed. A well-made, reliable product.

It works great! the only issue is that if you use a cell phone, the phone is a little farther from your ear and therefore a little harder to here the conversation.

So far I've used my TP-7 to record interviews from which I edit small segments to include in Powerpoint presentations. The clips are clear and understandable even in a large conference hall. It is small enough to easily use and comfortable in my ear.

This is a great product for recording telephone calls. Its design allows it to be used with any phone and almost any recording device. It can also be used as an external microphone for a recording device.

I use this with the Olympus LS-10. The mic sound quality is good, however, it picks up a lot of ambient noise so you have to make sure that the unit is very snug with the phone's speaker. The overall quality is disappointing-- rather thin and flimsy. If using for travel, I'd suggest getting a case for it to avoid tangles.
