Very solid and sturdy.
Leg-height adjusts easily, quickly and securely.
Leg-angle adjustment is useful too.
I've flipped the center-column to horizontal occasionally, and it works as specified. It's less sturdy this way, but that's normal.
It's a little heavier than carbon-fiber, but half-price too. Duh!

Basically, this Manfrotto does exactly what it promises, and does it well, for a reasonable price. What more can you say about a tripod.

NOTE: You must get a ballhead with this.

I am pretty satisfied with this tripod. For me, I like a tripod that takes the least amount of time to setup. Therefore, with one 2 knots per leg, this tripod works the best. Of course, if you have extra cash, I would recommend the neotec tripod since it offers even better and convenient setup. However, I am happy with this tripod, it is extremely sturdy. I have placed it in heavy wind condition and it does not budge a bit.

I used a SunPak carbon fiber tripod for about a year and found it too shaky. This tripod, although heavier than I would like is rock solid and worth carrying around the extra weight. Coupled with the Manfrotto 410 Junior Geared head, it is just what I needed. The cost is really reasonable, especially with the rebate available when I bought it.

The adjustment range is phenomenal. I don't think there is a better deal available in tripods.

Looked at many tripods, selected the 055XPROB for outdoor and macro photograpy, considered the carbon fiber variants but feel that the weight of this unit helps here on the coast with high winds and sharp wind gusts. Excellent quality and fit and finish.

I'm an amateur photographer, I use a Canon 60D with the Canon EF-S 17-55, and this tripod has helped me get better shots in low light conditions on those longer exposures. I'm 6'2" tall, and this tripod doesn't leave me leaning over to look at the viewfinder. The extendable "neck" is a very nice feature.

This product looks good, feels good, works good, is durable, and exceeds my expectations. I'd definitely recommend this tripod if you are looking for one. This product rated highly in all the reviews I read before making my decision, and it lived up to its reputation.

if you don't have a bad back, The weights not an issue.

The legs dont always slide out all the way themselves, leaving you thinking about the balance. Make sure you gently nudge em out.

I am really happy with this purchase. My only issue is that it might end up being taller than I really need - this of course is my error vs. a issue with the tripod. As an amateur / tripod rookie, I didn't get my head around just how tall this would be once I added my ~7" older bogan 3038 ball head. I will likely order the newer pistol grip head that gets great reviews - its 4" tall which may address my issue. I don't want a situation where I always need to shorten each of the three legs... ah the learning curve!

Very sturdy tripod, legs have good adjusting catches and the ability to alter the angles of the legs really helps get the right camera set up for every location.
The ability to shoot at only 3" from the ground is the main reason for buying this model.
Along with the 322RC2 grip action ball-head this tripod stands out above other manufacturers.

Very sturdy and well built tripod legs. The ability to turn the center column horizontal is extremely nice and it's a very simple to do. I have the Manfrotto gearhead as the head and it's a great combination.

I've had multiple sets of Manfrotto legs over the last decade for various purposes, along with other manufacturer's offerings as well. Once I tried the 055XPROB, I'd found the one set I need for everything except ultralight traveling (for which I have a modifed ZipShot set).

I liked these so much, I sold off every other set of legs and use these exclusively. From Macro, to nature, to product shots for a catalog, these do it all. If you need weight and not your money, the carbon version is great, but for the money, the aluminum is a great set, and super sturdy.

I use a Canon 7D for both stills and video, but primarily the latter. I purchased this tripod because I wanted durability and ease of use at a decent price.

This tripod would work fine, but you could also go with the Manfrotto 190XB. It's the exact same tripod, minus the fancy handgrip that this one has at the top of the legs.

I should also note that the piece on the 190xbPro that diffreniates itself from the standard 190xb is the exact piece that fell apart on the tripod that I received. I hadn't had it two weeks and was running a practice shoot when several components essentially fell apart. I would assume that it was a defective model and (hopefully) not the case for the entire line. But nonetheless, it reinforced the point that I was paying a good $70 more for something that is more a marketing tool than really useful and necessary.

Sent this one back and went for the 190xb.

I already have had ballhead from the same manufacture, and I use with this tripod to take some shoots of birds in the park and others shoots of Potomac river. It is a nice stuff, sturdy and steady. Even I let myself for a little carelessness and my tripod just take care its-self. Of course it is a little heavy, but it gain me much much more than it is.

Use it to take photos at night and firework. also use it to record some videos on my little one. the Tripod is great very easy to use and very solid.

I would of rather have a lighter smaller Tripod for traveling. this Tripod was too big and heavy for traveling.
