The Manfrotto 755XB MDeVe Aluminum Video Tripod Legs is an extremely versatile two-stage aluminum tripod that was designed specifically for run-and-gun videographers using Mini-DV or DVCAM camcorders where rapid, reliable setup and take-down is paramount. Supporting payloads up to 15.4 lbs (7kg), no sacrifices in strength or performance have been made in this effort.
The 755XB has been redesigned to offer better ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism, and improved quick action leg locks. Flip lever leg locks clamp down tightly in one motion, yet are adjustable for wear over time. The built-in 50mm leveling ball provides rapid column leveling on uneven terrain, and leg tubes are grooved and keyed for torsional stability during setup and use.

Perfectly fine for still shooting, if that's you, then seriously consider this rig.
However, if you need to do 180 degree pans, like I do, for motion picture EFP, then you're probably not going to be happy with the sticks. The ball head (at least on the rig I have) is not level across that range.
In fact a 90 degree move induces about 2 to 3 degrees on horizontal tilt on the sticks I have. And if one's shot horizon is 2 degrees off-level, it's a worthless shot.
It is a terrible shame because other than that flaw it's exactly what I need for my style of production. It's small, light, you can get the lens vertical up to 5'9", it's rugged/durable, I can collapse it down so it fits in a carry-on sized bag, and it's not very expensive.
Man, too bad about that unreliability with the leveling.

I bought this tripod on recommendations from friends who use it professionally. I use this for still photography. The tripod is rugged, easy to figure out, well-made and everything I want in a professional entry-level tripod. I have zero complaints.

This can handle over 9 lbs. in the field- perfect for a Canon 5D Mark II.
It is stable for long lens shooting, and handles slow pans, and tilts.
I love that is small, and portable- perfect for ENG shooting.

Comments about Manfrotto 755XB MDeVe Aluminum Video Tripod Legs - Supports 15.4 lbs (7kg):
I use this tripod to videotape with a Canon GL-2.
It is a very steady tripod and could handle video cameras at least twice the weight of the GL-2 with no trouble. I was a bit nervous about the "snap to lock" leg locks but they seem to be heavy duty and hold the legs securely without fear of breaking.

I've used the 755xb with an HD head and small pro/semi-pro video. The adjustments are easy and smooth. Can't beat the light weight.
