The Axis Communications AXIS 221 is a high performance network camera specifically developed for applications requiring dependable day and night security surveillance. This makes it an excellent choice for monitoring parking lots, highway traffic conditions, sports stadiums, shopping centers, government buildings and numerous other applications.
Key Features
True Day/Night Function with IR Cut Filter
In order to provide the best possible image quality 24-hours a day, this camera uses a removable IR cut filter to switch from high resolution color during the day to an ultra sensitive B/W mode when light levels fall.
Outstanding Image Quality with Pentax Lens
Utilizing a 1/3" progressive scan CCD and a Pentax lens, this camera is capable of delivering superior image quality with the sharpness and color depth required in closely identifying people and objects.
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
When used together with a PoE feeder, Power over Ethernet has the ability to power the camera via the standard network data cable. PoE greatly simplifies camera installation by allowing it to be placed in areas with no direct access to an AC outlet. Furthermore, when used in conjunction with a UPS (uninterrupted power supply), PoE will keep the camera operating in the event of a local power outage.
Simultaneous MJPEG & MPEG-4 Streaming
Video is captured simultaneously in both the JPEG and MPEG-4 formats. This provides the necessary versatility in transmitting over a network, allowing a user for example to set the camera to display images in the superior quality MJPEG format and the same time have the camera record in the faster MPEG-4 format to reduce file sizes.
Motion Detection with Pre & Post Alarm Image Capture
Built into the camera is a motion detection function fully configurable for area and sensitivity. Motion detection not only alerts an operator to suspicious activities but when used to trigger recording saves valuable time as well as storage and network resources. Images preceding and following an alarm event are recorded along with event footage, giving an operator a better evaluation of an occurrence.
