The Axis Communications Power over Lan Midspan 1-Port can be used to inject electrical power into the same Ethernet cable used to transmit data over a network. By having a single cable carrying both data and power, camera installation is no longer limited to areas with a close proximity to an AC outlet. This makes it possible to install the camera close to a ceiling, in hallways, inside outdoor housings, on rooftops and numerous other environments where running electrical wiring is inconvenient, too costly or simply unsightly.

Comments about Axis Communications Power over Ethernet PoE Midspan Injector, 1-Port:
I'm using this with an Axis POE camera. It works just as you'd think it does. No loss of bandwidth or appreciable latency added. It's also smaller than I thought it would be.
