The Elinchrom EL-Skyport USB RX Radio Slave Transceiver fits into the USB socket of any Mac or Windows computer and works in conjunction with the free EL-Skyport Software. The USB RX transceiver will send and receive information from both the Universal Receiver and the RX Receiver.
The EL-Skyport Software program automatically searches for all Transceiver RX and Universal Receiver modules. Full remote control is only available by using a full RX transceiver system. RX flash units or other flashes using the Universal Receiver can only offer synchronisation and strobing options.
The EL-Skyport system has a studio operating range of 164' (50 m), and 394' (120 m) outdoors. Interference free operation is guaranteed with 40 bit security.
Note:For use with RX Series only; BXRi Monolights do not show up on Skyport software

Comments about Elinchrom EL-Skyport USB RX Radio Slave Transceiver:
As of late November 2009, Elinchrom now has Win7 drivers for this USB transceiver. They work great! Download them from the Elinchrom site, in addition to the current version of the studio control software. The drivers are "odd" to install because they don't give you an installer per se, but a directory full of driver files.
The unit works wonderfully: reliable, fast, and trouble-free. If you're using Elinchrom strobes and you're shooting tethered to a computer, this is an **Necessary** item to have. Without it, adjusting power on downward-facing softboxes is done either through the on-camera trigger, or from a ladder. This and a laptop solves that problem very handily.
Also, the device now works better when attached to a USB hub. Under Windows Vista, I couldn't get the USB transceiver to work properly with a hub...it had to be connected directly to the computer. Now under Win7 it works great through a USB2 hub.

I do not have anything to say much about this small wonder; it works! It automatically recognizes my Digital Style 600 Rx quickly and easily;the key is that you have to follow exactly what it states in the instruction when you install it the first time;after that everything is easy; it recognizes the Style 600 Rx easily, then it lets you alter the power settings easily using its free software downloaded from its website; it works with my Win XP flawlessly; I have no complaint; it works as it is designed to; good luck.
