This little Epson is similar in quality to my 2200 Epson Printer which I have used to make fairly large professional quality prints on archival paper for years now without a single glitch. Epson quality is supurb- I would not consider another printer. I have had other brands and have been really dismayed by them, and am thrilled with Epson. This handy little printer is great. I though it was so wonderful, protable and fun that I also purchased the battery (which is opional) so I could use it on trips. Today I plan to print several small photos of Bighorn Sheep (and fox kits!) from a Colorado photographic trip this week. These will be great for family to see- then I'll print the really good ones on the larger Epson later!

I have used this item in my home studio, but after I had the third one break down I consider upgrading to a more commercial compact printer.
Prints are great in quality and durability. Comes with a convenient print pack.
Software options are limited; 20 sheet tray is too small; after a while, with the printer still being fairly new, it just says 'parts inside printer are at the end of service life', and you have to throw a nice investment away.

If you need a fast, portable, top quality, 4x6 print, affordable, printer, THIS IS IT! I inserted a SD card into the printer, pressed print, and 37 seconds later I got a 4x6 borderless print. Wow!
Portable is an understatement. Imagine a 4 can cooler. That's about the size of it, only lighter.
Quality, I think it's far better than the drug store photo departments. And don't forget, you're printing at home without having to stand on a line. I saw a demo a few years ago of this ink and paper tech. Water resistant? It works!!
4x6 print and affordable? Do you homework. Your per print cost will vary. The quality, print speed, convenience, and printer size, makes up for the few pennies extra you MIGHT pay.
Oh, my bad luck? The printer I got pulled two sheets of papers twice out of ten times. The replacement worked fine.

Comments about Epson PM260 PictureMate Dash Compact Photo Printer:
How I wish I could give this 0 stars. When I first bought the printer, I was super happy. The print quality was great, it was fast and the colors were vibrant. Then, I found out if you do not print pictures almost every day, the nozzles get clogged up and you end up wasting most of your ink cartridge trying to clean the heads. The other problem is that you have to buy the ink cartridge with paper. I have tons of paper left over because with each ink cartridge I have bought, I have only printed about max 15 pictures and then it clogs up and I have to start over. I complained to the company and they sent me a refurbished one to replace mine (I had to leave my brand new ink cartridge in my old one when I sent it in). I got the new one and the "initial" cartridge they sent with the new refurbished unit gave me maybe 15 pictures before it was empty. It took me a week to buy a new cartridge and when I installed it and started printing, it gave me the same streaky images that I had with my old one. Sigh- I wish I had stayed with an HP product- never had any problems at all with my old HP printing unit!! BEWARE!! This product has horrible long term problems! (mine is about 7 months old- Ive bought about 4 ink cartridges and printed maybe a max of 45 pictures!!)

Comments about Epson PM260 PictureMate Dash Compact Photo Printer:
Most often I'm shooting portraits of children at events. After a few hours at the first event I lost track of how many positive comments I received from parents. "I can have the picture now".
The menu is easy to work through. It goes to the default settings every time you put the memory card in it. This is not so nice since I want the date on the face of the print. It only takes a few sec to set this, but I normally have kids lined up. And a few seconds every time you go to the printer really adds up over many hours.
I need a 2nd printer and an assistant to run it.
The print cartridge will make it through the included paper. I did one event with a blue ocean type of background. (Lots of blue) The cartridge ran out of blue about 120 prints. The box will tell you that the cartridge is low around the 110 mark, Just keep going. Most often you will run out of paper first.
The carry case is well made. The paper/ink replacement kit will not fit in the end pockets? What were they thinking??? You will find something to put in them, like an extension chord. The case will protect it from falls and getting banged around in the back of a truck. If your traveling around with it, the case is worth the $.

We use the printer to print on the spot at Events.
We were going to buy the Sony Snaplab
but decided to try the Picturemate.
We were so impressed by the quality and print time that we bought 3 more.
So we use a 4 printer setup at every event.
Nobody has to wait more than 30 seconds to get their print.
In the last 3 weeks we have made enough money to buy 3 Snaplabs.
We are sticking with the Picturemates.
We might buy 2 more.
EXCELLENT PRINTER

The printer works great and produces wonderful pictures. My only real gripe with the unit is that it ships with just enough ink to print 20 pictures. Then you have to buy more ink. The cartridge that you buy after the fact is supposedly good for 150 prints. We shall see...

Bought this for my daughter's graduation present.
It worked right out of the box and produced excellent pictures. As expected, included ink pack only lasted a short while so I would suggest buying extra ink right away.

Comments about Epson PM260 PictureMate Dash Compact Photo Printer:
I use it with my iPhoto program on my Mac. One is able to print directly from a memory card but, I am more comfortable sprucing up my photos with the iPhoto program before I print. The PictureMate is easy to use and operate. It prints relatively quickly and the photos are of a high quality. I have only owned it for a couple of weeks, so I can't comment on its durability, and I haven't taken advantage of all of its features. My only problem with PictureMate is that when I order prints, I must purchase the Espon 4X6 paper as well. It would be nice, and probably less expensive to just purchase the ink without the photo paper

I have an Epson PRO-7800 (24" wide) printer, but doing 4x6's on wide paper is a hassle, and often wastes paper. Having this PictureMate solves that problem, and it makes very nice prints. And being Dye-Sub and using Epson paper, the longevity is good as well. Sure saves me a lot of time and effort.

After using this little, portable and fantastic printer, I will be printing all my own photos! I will not be ordering prints online ever again. The quality is clear, crisp, sharp and amazing. I have used both the matte and glossy photo papers and it's as if they came from a print shop. I love how you do not need a computer to crop, rotate, adjust your images. You can add borders or print bordless. The paper is inexpensive and comes with the ink cartidges. For the price, this is the best printer and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

This printer prints a 4x6 print in about half the time of some of it's similarly priced competitors. Consumables are less expensive too. The quality of the prints is at least as good as at the instant print kiosk at a pharmacy or discount store. It's a snap to transport and use. If someone walked away with it, I'd buy another just like it!

Already own the Epson Picturemate (without the screen). Love it, but always wished it had the viewing screen. Really love my Picturemate Dash. Super fast printing (much faster than my old one). The color adjustment takes some getting used to. But other than, it's great. Easy to understand, very clear, crisp pics! My mom will love my old one!
