The 804RC2 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is 20% lighter than its predecessors due to the use of Adapto material. It also features improved ergonomic design plus a counter spring system. Built into the forward/back tilt axis is a fixed spring that helps to absorb the shock of the full camera weight from crashing down. The spring also makes it easier to position the camera on this axis since it opposes some of the camera's weight.

I use this for everything from portraits and studio photography to weddings and night photography. This is the kind of tripod that you will have for a lifetime! Extremely sturdy. These guys make some great products and I will continue to buy their stuff for my company!

This little tripod is a tank. I bought it as a static tripod for interviews with using a video DSLR. It works amazing. Everything on it adjusts amazingly easy and smooth. The option to change out heads is great, especially for anyone shooting video with a DSLR.

With the way the center column can be repositioned, and as quick and easy as the legs and center column ajust, it is a great tripod. You can position the camera down to the ground, or easily setup in ruff sloped terrain. The one negative is that with the center column fully extended, the center column is not rock solid like my 30 year old Slik SL-67 tripod.

When I looked at the price they had on it when I bought it <$200, I couldn't believe the deal. I would have easily paid $300. Solid tripod, performs well, and the pan/tilt head is the best! This tripod is highly recommended.

After reading other reviews I thought this model would be too heavy. I am glad this was my selection, I would not want any less than the 055XPROB - it's perfect. It is not heavy and provides the stability that I need for diferent types of shooting such as studio, outdoor, and general usage. I own the Manfrotto mono pod which is 15 years old and works like new.I have used it for professional soccer, sports car, and wildlife photography. This new tripod will also be used for my new D90 and it's video operation. Great quality is the best guide.

I've always bought cheap tripods in the past, but when the head snapped off my last one and dropped my 20D + 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM lens to the ground I decided it was time to invest in something nice. I do a lot of mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing and this has been super durable and useful. Weather can change fast on top of a 14,000+ ft mountain and the quick setup/collapse of this tripod is great for getting the shot quickly and getting out. I've used it in dirt, rocks, snow, cold, and wind and its footing is stable. It is kind of heavy but I am young so I don't mind hauling the extra weight and it is much cheaper than a composite setup.
