Comments about Pelican Heads-Up 2680 4 'AA' 1W Recoil LED Flashlight:

Dissapointed in quality. Extremely powerful beam but the light frustratingly keeps going off when moving your head. Extremely annoying when riding a bike home at night from work. Have tried working out why its losing its connection but it seems to work for a little while then goes off again. Not sure if its a poor design or I just have a faulty product. As I live in Aust bought with other products from BH to save on postage but wasn't worthwhile posting back to BH. Had it now for 5 months and don't use it anymore.

Comments about Pelican Heads-Up 2680 4 'AA' 1W Recoil LED Flashlight:

I use this light while commuting on my bicycle. Since I get out of work at 6 PM the evening commute is in the dark when during Standard Time. Although most of my route is well-lit there are a few areas where I used to slow down because there is poor visibility and I do not enjoy getting suprised by potholes.

With the Heads-Up 2680 those days are over. I can now navigate the dark areas of my commute with confidence. Additionally, any reflective material within a few hundred feet is easily lit up. I saw bicyclists coming in the opposite direction, and I thought that they had really good light, but when I got closer I realized that they just had a reflector on their handelbar.

I use a standard bicycle helmet so the rubber strap does not work to well. I think it is intended for a hardhat or a helmet that is rounded. However, my helemet has many holes for air, and I had no problem threading the cloth (which is elastic, by the way) strap inside the helmet so that the side straps fit around my head while the light and the top strap were situated on top of the helmet.

I only used it once so I cannot comment on the battery life.

Comments about Pelican Heads-Up 2680 4 'AA' 1W Recoil LED Flashlight:

As a former electrician I appreciate portable lights when doing repairs. I bought the 2680 because I have Klein Tools X21 which is Pelican's right angle flashlight. They share the same recoil LED design. Since they both are identical I can clearly see 100 feet above a suspended ceiling or work on something in front of me. The beam is 100% same brightness. No hot-spot along with lack of light in the beam center typical of other portable lights. Any company that rates their light output with standards like lumens is providing a measurable specification. I thought it might be a bit heavy (large light with 4 AA's) and sag or bounce when walking yet the head strap holds steady along with proper size head pad. The ON/OFF switch is easy to rotate. Just a small rotation and it easily clicks. The light adjusts vertically with incremental clicks. Thick plastic construction and just looks like great quality. It comes with cloth strap for bare head or rubber strap for helmet. I recommend and would by another for myself or a gift. The Pelican 2680 is worth the money. Definitely for the professional tradesman such as an electrician who will have to work without room lights installing devices, etc or - for example - nighttime bicycling.

Comments about Pelican Heads-Up 2680 4 'AA' 1W Recoil LED Flashlight:

I use the product mainly for landscape night photography, for walking and such.

It's an average product, a little pricey for what it does.

Light spot could be a bit more wider instead focusing on an spot, but pretty nice radio anyway.

The head strap is a little bit short.

Comments about Pelican Heads-Up 2680 4 'AA' 1W Recoil LED Flashlight:

I primarily purchased this head light because my wife was tired of holding flashlights for me and I was tired of her not pointing in the right place. I have only had this a few weeks and have used it for several different tasks. Wiring outlets, searching in the garage, walking back from the woods after a late shoot, just to mention a few.

The light is very bright. When I first got it I thought it might even be too bright for working on things close up but it actually works great for seeing small items when dark.

It is light weight enough that you hardly notice the wieght while wearing it. I have only used it with the head band but it also come with a strap designed to wrap around a hard hat. It throws a very bright beam easily 30-40 feet and lights a spot about 2 feet across from about 10 feet away.

The L.E.D. bulb should last virtually forever.
I purchased this model over some of the lower priced models because the L.E.D. gives you 3-4 times the battery life of other choices. I was worried the L.E.D. would not be as bright as a halogen bulb. I don't know if it is or not but it is very bright and I don't think I would want it any brighter. This model is also water proof.

This is a very nice light, buy it, you will love it.
