The 804RC2 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is 20% lighter than its predecessors due to the use of Adapto material. It also features improved ergonomic design plus a counter spring system. Built into the forward/back tilt axis is a fixed spring that helps to absorb the shock of the full camera weight from crashing down. The spring also makes it easier to position the camera on this axis since it opposes some of the camera's weight.

Very happy with this purchase. I am a professional photographer and recently shot ballet with it.
It is solid and I feel confident leaving my camera on there if I have to walk away for a second or two (I use a 7D with short lens). I really like the individual knob adjustments on the head as opposed to a ball head, that way if I like my horizontal setting I can keep it if I still want to adjust my vertical setting. That is the main reason I went with this head.
The pan knob is smaller than the other two knobs so it is a small adjustment to get it started. I bought this to possibly use for pans on video in addition to using it with a still camera, but I don't feel confident enough with the small handle to get a smooth, consistent pan yet. Maybe over time I will get used to it. However, I like how I can pan while I shoot stills if I need to adjust from left to right if I leave this knob loose.
Great buy for the price!
Also, I don't think it is mentioned in the ad detail but the head includes a BUBBLE LEVEL on it!! Awesome!

I bought this tripod for my Olympus DSLR outfit, because the Gitzo Studo Performance I use for my Sinar was too heavy.
It works great, is durable and the locks of the legs can be adjusted if needed over years-time.
The 804RC2 is great for general use, I replaced it with the 410 geared head for my architectural asignments.
As this tripod go's LOW too, the central post will get in the way.
Get the Low Angle Adapter, it fits on the bottom of the central post, ready to be used when needed.
This tripod will last you a life-time !
