Great sound. the humam3machine interface may take some time to get used to but the reward is there. Battery autonomy is fine. the unit has all the features necessary to enjoy audiobooks (bookmark) and music listening (jeteffect).

Comments about I7-08RD iAudio 7 8 GB in Black with Red:

I dont know if I will ever have to charge it, by just occassionally adding music over the last couple of weeks it has held its charge. I listen to it frequently. The sound is wonderful. I used it it with a pa soundboard over stadium speakers and the sound was wonderful!
Con- touchy/sensitive touchpad controls, but solved by engaging the lock @ the powerbutton.

Great sound quality but the screen is a little small. If you can get past the screen size, it is definitely worth it. Has a lock for the very sensitive touch screen, great idea!

Comments about I7-08RD iAudio 7 8 GB in Black with Red:

I enjoy my iAudio 7. I like alot of user settings and the enhancements are killer. So killer in fact that I blew up the stock headphones in about a week or two. So I think that is my only criticism, the headphones sounded good but are sensitive to alotta bass I guess. After I replaced them with headphones in the $30 range it sounds even better! The file system is a little confusing with the included software as well. But I worked the kinks out as the included manuals were not very helpful.
Also, the built in microphone sounds pretty good but is noisier than desirable.

          Cowon iAUDIO 7

          By Cadence

          from San Francisco, CA

Comments about I7-08RD iAudio 7 8 GB in Black with Red:

The best thing about this player is the 50~60hours of playtime that it gives you. Comparably there's the Cowon's D2(4GB) that gives 50hours. But I only need it to play music,so the smaller iAudio 7 suits me with 8GB of flash drive. Iwould have waited for the 16GB to come out, but I reallyneeded one to take on my trip. I'm guessing that I won'tneed to charge it for 2 weeks. It is loaded with digital sound improvement feature such asBBE, adjustable 5band EQ with 6 presets(pop, rock, classic, jazz, vocal, and flat, user defined,) MP(improver,) Mach3Bass. There seem to be only one play list. And although it playsmovies, display pictures, and text. But I wouldn't bother onsuch a small screen. It might be cool but seriously thescreen is roughly an 1inch square. The main draw back is that it can only record at 128k WMAformat. And it doesn't have removable battery, but with 50hrs ofplay time... it's not a big deal. Some people have complained that the buttons are a bit hardto use, but there's ways to customize it. Learn to hold thebutton for a couple of seconds... it'll give you options, just like the Mac's mouse button(click & hold) it's not toohard...Other players that were considered:Creative's 16GB Zen V Plus looked good except for itsbattery life. Trekstor Vibez 12GB is another contender, butwas unclear about whether it uses Flash drive, or micro HDD(I'm guessing HDD.) Sony NW-S706FV 4GB seems descent, andhas noise cancelling function, but I wanted a higher storagecapacity(and also Sony products have failed quicker thanother brand in the past). Cowon and Sony seems to have beatthe market on the extended battery life.

Expertise: A non specialized geek, I research like hell.

Problems Encountered: It can lock up if you try to display some graphics thatisn't compatible, or too large... To get out of this lockmode I did a force quit (slide the power button over to off,and hold it there until the player shuts off, and then turnit back on again) I'm guessing that this might be because ofthe firmware issues. There's been much talk about firmwareimprovements. So might want to find the updated firmwarefrom Cowon's site. Also I noticed that there is a USB charge shut offoption. I would shut it off, so that the battery doesn't getrecharged everytime you connect the player to your PC viaUSB to upload music to your player(If you don't fullydischarge, before you recharge you can shorten the batterylife.)

Previous Equivalent Item Owned: None (it took me 2years of searching for the right one)

Items I Recommend: Better earphone/head phones, and the AC charger(that's not included)
