The LensCoat Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover is a neoprene hood cover that fits easily and snugly around your lens hood in either the shooting position or reversed. This can help to protect the front element of your lens from dirt, dust, moisture and impact. The Hoodie features a reinforced removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect your lens from damage.
In addition, the Hoodie can be used to complement an existing LensCoat lens cover in the same color or camouflage finish.

I'm very protective of my lens elements when shooting in the field. I've made it a practice to replace the lens cap during breaks in shooting longer than 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I'd forget, after a while, if the cap were on or off. Since I usually can't confirm this visually with the lens hood on, I'd reach around the front and gently tap - resulting in a nice fingerprint smudge on my UV filter if the cap was off. No more. I replaced all of my traditional lens caps with LensCoat Hoodies. They protect very well, they are easy to install/remove, and best of all for me, it's completely obvious now whether the lens is covered or not. No more cleaning smudges off of lenses in the field (and possibly missing shots in the process.) I'd give a fifth star if LensCoat would add a tether or quick-release neck strap for these so I don't have to stuff them in my bag or a pocket.

I purchased this to use on my Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 lens because with a lens filter on the lens, the lens cap does not fit securely and always pops off. This lens has a hood which the cover fits over, but I had to use two hands to get it onto the lens. Once on, it fits nice and tight. I like the fact that the hoodie fits easily in my pocket.
I believe the hoodie can be made a bit deeper when used over the lens hood.

Comments about LensCoat Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
As I am using a thin framed filter on my 10-20 sigma lens the lens cap does not fit anymore. So I was looking for an alternative and found this neoprene cover lens hood. If you manage to find the right size it fits nicely and protects the lens beautifully.

Comments about LensCoat Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
Highly useful, easier to use on a non-threaded filter than a traditional lens cap. Easy to fit and remove. Can be used as simple lens cap directly over lens or over lens hood. Could be a bit deeper to reach further over lens barrel if used without lens hood

Comments about LensCoat Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
I use this as an alternative to a standard lens cap as I have filters on the front of my Canon 24-105 and 100-400 lenses. Standard caps don't stay on very well and there is no internal thread on these slim flters. The Hoodie fits tight, attaches easily and is simple to remove

Bought this and the next size up after seeing them on another photo blog. It was more of a "why not give them a try" purchase, but I'm glad I did. Leave the protective hard insert in and you have as much protection as using the hard lens cap. Take out the insert and you have front end coverage and solve the problem of what to do with your lens cap, since you can fold and stuff the hoodie anywhere. I did put a small hook and loop circle, just the hook part, on my lens hoods to insure the cover didn't just pop off, but that was more of a precaution than a necessity. I will be ordering a couple more to fit the rest of my lens and will be leaving the hard lens caps in my "old camera stuff" junk drawer.

This hood is great for keeping the dust off your lens in between shots outdoors. You don't have to remove your lens hood to put a cap on.

Comments about LensCoat Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
I first tried this lens coat without my lens hood attached to the lens and it was really loose. I realize it was intended for use with the lens hood on the lens and now that I'm using it with that attached, it is really snug so it lives up to its intended use. I like the elasticity which is still firm and I hope it stays that way throughout the many times I will remove and replace it over my lens. I currently have a 18-200 Nikkor lens that I'm using it on which is 72mm lens and I especially like the extra protection for the lens face in the end of the cover. So far I'm very satisfied.

I give these little gadgets a top rating. They are inexpensive and well made, and offer additional protection from both damage and dust. I use one of them on each of my lenses, and I don't take it off till I'm ready to shoot.
