The LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover is a neoprene hood cover that fits easily and snugly around your lens hood in either the shooting position or reversed. This can help to protect the front element of your lens from dirt, dust, moisture and impact. The Hoodie features a reinforced removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect your lens from damage.
In addition, the Hoodie can be used to complement an existing LensCoat lens cover in the same color or camouflage finish.

This thing works great. It protects my 24-105mm Canon L lens, with Hoya polarizing filter attached, better than Hoya's filter cap did. Plus, the Hoya cap kept falling off (and I finally lost it that way). I don't expect to lose this hoodie, because it slips over the lens very snugly.
I did dock it just one star for two reasons: #1 -- It's nearly impossible to slip it on the lens using one hand, so keep in mind that you'll have to have both hands available, which could be awkward and might slow you down a bit. #2 -- This is essentially just an appopriately-shaped small hunk of neoprene. Thus, as with so much photographic gear, it is overpriced for what it is.
But it does its job better than a normal lens cap, and for that it deserves a good review.

I purchased this Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover for my Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRII Lens. This size is recommended for this specific lens. The cover is intended to work fitting over the lens shade. I had to use both hands in order for me to get the cover to fit properly over the lens. Once i had the cover in place, it fit snuggly onto the lens.
Since I have never owned this product before, I contacted LensCoat Customer Service (online). I was greeted with complete professionalism. The rep placed a Large Hoodie Lens Cover over his identical lens to mine to see if it fit better. His conclusion, it was easier to put on, but it was looser on the lens.
The plus side, it does fold down quite nicely so you can easily stuff it in your bag or pocket.

I love the fact that I can leave the Hoodie Lens Cover on my lens and I don't have to reverse the lens hood and put the lens cap back on my lens everytime I use it. You just have to have a case large enough to hold it all. Great protection for my lens!

Comments about LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
I am currently using the LenCoat on a Bronica 45-90mm zoom with a B+W 95mm Extrawide. The outer ring diameter is 110mm. The fit of the LensCoats is tight over the outer ring and grips the lens barrel fine.
The install requires two hands but since I'll be using a tripod, the issue is minor.
Excellent alternative for a nonexistent selection of 110mm lens caps.

Comments about LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
I bought it for a specific lens, but I over estimated the size needed. I think it would work well although I think it should be tighter around the open end to really secure against loss. A tether cord would be a good additional feature. Nice quality though, and I may be able to use it on a larger lens.

I bought this to go over the hard cover for my Kowa 88mm scope which has come off numerous times in the field. I found that the front of the Hoodie has a hard insert, so I'll be able to use it alone. Just what I was looking for.

Wanted something different than the original 'lens cap' for the Nikon 14-24 lens, so got one of these. It fits very well, easy to put on and take off and you can even put it in your pocket when using the lens. I would buy it again.

I like this much better than the supplied lens cap on the Nikon 14-24; does not depend on plastic to plastic friction to keep it on and does not scratch built in lens hood. Seems easy enough to put on. Am considering buying more of their products in the future.

This is the recommended size for my Nikon 16-85mm lens. It seems loose and as if it will fall off when in use. It does not stay on in my day case. This is the first Hoodie Lens Hood Cover I have purchased and probably the last.

This product does protect your lens, but it is a bit bulky and it may slip out of you lens in the bag. I bought it with a new lens to protect it but it falls a bit behind my expectations.

Comments about LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
The product is not a fully cover for the lens.
It is divided and some parts of the lens are not covered. The manipulation for the IS and focus buttons is very uncomfortable.
Also when I put the lens on my bag, the cover starts to slide from the lens.

The neoprene hoodie offers great protection for my 14-24 Nikkor lens and is easy to store in your pocket. It effortlessly goes on and is snug enough to stay on, then slips off when you're ready to shoot. There isn't anything I don't like about this lens cover...

A much better cover then the original lens cover for the Nikon 14-24/2.8
Only con is that It does require a bit of a stretch to pull over the lens, making it a bit too easy to touch the front lens element

Comments about LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (Black):
These are identical to a similar product made by Op/Tech, which is much cheaper. The main difference is that these lenscoat ones have a foam disc insert in them which gives the cap some rigidity. If you don't need or don't want this, save a lot of money and get the Op/Tech version instead (which does not seem to have the foam insert).
Otherwise they work pretty well. I use these as part of a form-fitting neoprene sleeve/pouch that I put my lens into, which gives it enough protection to be put into a hiking backpack without all the bulk of a more traditional lens case. Important when you're hiking and shooting as weight and bulk are two things you want to cut down on.

Ordered this to use with my canon 24-105 and 10-22 lens hoods. Fits both wonderfully. Keeps out dust, fingers, etc when lens not in use. Quicker and easier to remove than a lens can. Offers impact protection in camera bag.
