The LensCoat Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover is a neoprene hood cover that fits easily and snugly around your lens hood in either the shooting position or reversed. This can help to protect the front element of your lens from dirt, dust, moisture and impact. The Hoodie features a reinforced removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect your lens from damage.
In addition, the Hoodie can be used to complement an existing LensCoat lens cover in the same color or camouflage finish.
- Will fit lens hoods with a diameter of 3.75 to 4.25".
- This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable.

This thing works great. It protects my 24-105mm Canon L lens, with Hoya polarizing filter attached, better than Hoya's filter cap did. Plus, the Hoya cap kept falling off (and I finally lost it that way). I don't expect to lose this hoodie, because it slips over the lens very snugly.
I did dock it just one star for two reasons: #1 -- It's nearly impossible to slip it on the lens using one hand, so keep in mind that you'll have to have both hands available, which could be awkward and might slow you down a bit. #2 -- This is essentially just an appopriately-shaped small hunk of neoprene. Thus, as with so much photographic gear, it is overpriced for what it is.
But it does its job better than a normal lens cap, and for that it deserves a good review.

I purchased this Medium Hoodie Lens Hood Cover for my Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRII Lens. This size is recommended for this specific lens. The cover is intended to work fitting over the lens shade. I had to use both hands in order for me to get the cover to fit properly over the lens. Once i had the cover in place, it fit snuggly onto the lens.
Since I have never owned this product before, I contacted LensCoat Customer Service (online). I was greeted with complete professionalism. The rep placed a Large Hoodie Lens Cover over his identical lens to mine to see if it fit better. His conclusion, it was easier to put on, but it was looser on the lens.
The plus side, it does fold down quite nicely so you can easily stuff it in your bag or pocket.

These are identical to a similar product made by Op/Tech, which is much cheaper. The main difference is that these lenscoat ones have a foam disc insert in them which gives the cap some rigidity. If you don't need or don't want this, save a lot of money and get the Op/Tech version instead (which does not seem to have the foam insert).
Otherwise they work pretty well. I use these as part of a form-fitting neoprene sleeve/pouch that I put my lens into, which gives it enough protection to be put into a hiking backpack without all the bulk of a more traditional lens case. Important when you're hiking and shooting as weight and bulk are two things you want to cut down on.

Easy to use, effective. I especially like the hard rubber insert in the end of the lens cover. There are other such lens covers on the market (e.g., one made by JJC), but this one is the best. Completely replaces the original plastic contrivance that came with my Nikon 14-24 wide angle lens.
