The Back-UPS RS 1300VA LCD 120V from APC provides professional power protection and battery backup for computer systems. Safe system shutdown and advanced power management capabilities keep systems and data safe via USB connection, and built-in cable and phone connections protect systems from surges traveling on data lines.
The UPS features 8 outlets, 6 of which provide battery backup. Its battery provides 16.4 minutes of runtime at half load capacity. The device features an integrated LCD control panel, which allows you to monitor and adjust settings. We use the APC RS 1300 on all our desktop system. We loose power a few times a year, and these systems always perform as expected / advertised. We switch to the APC 1300 about two years ago. At this point, all are still in service and we don't know of any negatives for this product.

I use this backup for a new Mac and associated hardware. I couldn't be happier with the performance. It's gone through two extended power outages and performed flawlessly. We have a generator for the house and I wondered about the 1300VA's abilities during the switchover cycle but there were zero problems. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend in the beginning but it was money well spent.

I have used APC products for many years and all of my family uses them also. They are great, work well and do the job usually better than their specs. Downfall is cost of replacing batteries. However, I have found that generic batteries work just as well for less than 1/2 the APC price, sorry APC.

Prior to this battery backup, I owned a TrippLite that did not last long - it's LCD failed. The great thing about this unit is that it's display will remain off until you press a button to check it's status. I also like the number of outlets that are available for the surge protection/battery backup.
