Sony HDR-SR8 HDD HD Camcorder 1080i, 100 GB, 3.2 Megapixel, 20x Digital Zoom, Carl Zeiss lens (Black) Imported

The Sony HDR-SR8 HDD HD Camcorder combines style with power. The compact, black, HDR-SR8 comfortably fits your hand and takes up very little space when stored. Sony made sure to give this camcorder impressive specs as well - 100 GB hard drive, 3.2 Mp ClearVid CMOS sensor, switchable HD/SD formats, and the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens.

Adding to the HDR-SR8's features would be, x.v. color technology, smooth slow record, Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization, and 10x optical zoom. Aside from the 100 GB hard drive, the Memory Stick Duo Media Slot gives you another option for increased storage, when used with the Memory Stick Duo (sold separately).

3.2 Megapixel (Gross) ClearVid CMOS Sensor
1/2.9" ClearVid CMOS Sensor provides 1080i lines of resolution in HD mode and 530 lines of horizontal resolution in SD mode. 6.1 Mp are available when shooting still photos. No matter which mode you're using, you're guaranteed high-quality results.
Switchable HD/SD Format Recording
Record and playback in both AVCHD (HD) and MPEG2-PS (SD)
x.v. Color Technology
x.v. Color Technology captures excellent color, providing a wider and more natural color range.
Zoom
10x optical zoom brings you close to your subject.
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens
The Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens has an advanced optical multi-layer coating that protects against lens flare and glare, as well as an addition T coating on the lens to further reduce flare and glare. These coatings give your images a more natural quality.
LCD Display
The HDR-SR8 2.7" Wide (16:9) Touch Panel Clear Photo LCD Plus Display (211K Pixels) rotates up to 270 degrees° offering you a variety of angles to utilize when you record and view play back images. The wide screen format helps you to compose in 16:9, allowing you to see what the end result will be while you film.
Smooth Slow Record
The smooth slow record feature allows you to slow down your video, enabling you to analyze fine movements or athletic action. Increasing the record rate from 60 fields per second (fps) to 240 fps for three seconds allowing you to capture three seconds of fast motion and play the video back in 12 seconds. Record an audio track to narrate what is being seen in the video.
Memory Stick Duo Media Slot 3
Capture and store still images (up to 2848 x 2136 resolution) directly onto Memory Stick Duo Media (sold separately). This allows for quick downloading of images so you can print, email, or post them to your favorite online site.
Dual Record
When recording in HD you can simultaneously capture 4.6 Mp still images onto Memory Stick Duo Media.
Super SteadyShot (Optical) Image Stabilization System
The Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization system (OIS), exclusive to Sony, works hard to control the age-old problem of hand shake as well as the occasional bump. This OIS offers an increased level of smoothness and clarity without a loss of image quality.
Tele Macro Function
When you want to capture close-up shots but don't want to get so close that you and the camcorder cause a shadow, use the tele macro function. The subject will be focused while the background is blurred out.
Active Interface Shoe
The Active Interface Shoe provides a place on the camcorder for you to add optional accessories, such as an additional microphone or light.
Super NightShot Infrared System
The Super NightShot Infrared System, exclusive to Sony, allows you to capture video and images even in complete darkness (0 lux) up to 10 feet. The Color Slow Shutter mode allows you to record in low light situations with full color detail by slowing down the shutter speed.
InfoLITHIUM Battery with AccuPower Meter System
Sony's InfoLITHIUM batteries are not susceptible to "Memory Effect" - which shortens the life span of the battery. The AccuPower&trade meter shows the remaining battery time in minutes in either the viewfinder or the LCD screen.
Stamina Battery Power Management System
The optional NP-FH100 InfoLITHIUM battery for the HDR-SR8 can continuously record up to 5 hours (viewfinder or LCD) on a single full charge, giving you extra long battery life
Easy Handycam button
The Easy Handycam Button locks out the advanced features of the HDR-SR8 - leaving only those essential for recording in operation.
Multi-Language Menu
The menu display can be set to English, English (simplified), Canadian French, Latin American Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese.
