The Axis Communications AXIS 207W is a high performance wireless network camera perfect for residential and commercial surveillance applications. Because of its small size and wireless capability, this camera can be discreetly installed in areas where the placement of conventional cameras is impossible or impractical.
- Wireless Network Interface
- In addition to its ultra compact size, this camera can communicate wirelessly with a network router. This makes it doubly effective for use in applications requiring superior quality video monitoring over a network, with the camera itself remaining as low-key as possible.
- Simultaneous MJPEG & MPEG-4 Streaming
- Video is captured simultaneously in both the JPEG and MPEG-4 formats. This provides the necessary versatility in transmitting over a network, allowing a user for example to set the camera to display images in the superior quality MJPEG format and the same time have the camera record in the faster MPEG-4 format to reduce file sizes.
- Built-In Microphone (1-Way Audio)
- A built-in camera microphone greatly enhances security performance by providing a user with the ability to hear as well as see an occurrence.
- Windows & Macintosh Web Browser Access
- Equipped with a built-in network server, this camera is capable of delivering outstanding image quality over a network, which can then be viewed from a remote location simply by logging on to a Windows or Mac Internet browser.
- Direct Recording from Web Browser
- Another feature unique to this camera is its ability to record directly from a standard Internet browser. Other manufacturers either don't support this at all or require the user to purchase additional software.
- Motion Detection
- Built into the camera is a motion detection function configurable for size and sensitivity. Motion detection not only alerts a user to suspicious activities but when used to trigger recording saves valuable search time as well as hard drive and network resources.

The first 207W I bought was defective right out of the box and was replaced by the dealer. The second took days of complex fiddling to become operational. Then I turned it off a few weeks, and when I turned it on it had lost all wireless capability. Axis does not repair these units, and their support is often incompetent. This is not a reliable product suitable for serious security applications. It is a toy at best.

I use this product for home monitoring. Compared to other wireless cameras that I have used that are only a little bit cheaper, the image is outstanding, even in fairly low light.
The instructions and the setup are not the easiest to follow if it's your first ever network camera which is was not for me. They are advertised to work with Macs but as with a lot of stuff unfortunately the set up is often easier or more automatic in windoze. Luckily I have windoze on my Mac, so it's not a big deal. Once it's set up and it has its IP address all is good.
