This Fantasea CoolFlash Nano with Focus Light Kit combines a durable watertight housing together with a remote land flash. The combination provides the perfect economical solution that can be used with all digital point-and-shoot cameras. The strobe unit triggers in sync with the digital camera's internal flash through a small light sensor in the strobe body.
The Nano has three flash modes to suit a wide variety of digital cameras. Whether your camera is capable of manual mode or has one or two pre-flashes to set exposure, the strobe ensures correct exposure with all such camera types.
The CoolFlash Nano attaches easily to the included 12" (30cm) flex arm and the photographer is ready to shoot great photos underwater and outdoors in extreme environments. The CoolFlash Nano works with all Fantasea housings as well as other digital camera housings.
As you go deeper underwater the blue color of the water filters out all the beautiful reds, oranges and other colors. Using an external flash close to your subject brings back the true vibrant colors of the underwater world.
The camera's internal flash is too close to the lens and will cause a snow like effect called back-scatter. The internal flash along with the included fiber optic cable is used to fire the CoolFlash Nano.
Small digital cameras have trouble focusing in low light or on a low contrast scene. When the included Fantasea Nano Focus Light is aimed at your subject it gives your camera enough light to focus. The light is also bright enough to use on night dives. Because the light has a wide beam and daylight color balance, the light does not affect your image. The light automatically shuts off when the camera pre-flash is fired. The light has a mounting ring that allows for easy attachment to strobe arms and lens port brackets. The included padded housing bag makes traveling with your housing and lights easy and convenient.

It took some time on the initial assembly as there are a lot of extra parts that need to be sifted out. The front plate that connects the fiber cable between the flash and the camera case kept wanting to fall off. It needs to be more secure. I did get a couple great shots though.

The flash was easy to set up and sync to my camera and the focus light works great while in video mode. I would have given it five stars if it came with a rechargable battery pack, but the batteries last for 3 or 4 dives.

The instruction are not very good. It´s not easy to see where to put the flash cable on the housing but Fantasea resolve the problem with a simple e.mail.
