The HD-1 all-in-one electronic drum kit from Roland offers terrific ease-of-use and great sound in a compact and affordable package. Based on the same technology as Roland's larger V-Drums kits, the HD-1 offers great sound quality and a variety of sounds, perfect for use at home, in schools, or in a studio.
Specially designed kick beaters, tom heads, snare pads, and cymbals provide quiet operation, and a headphone jack provides private listening so you can rock out without disturbing those around you. An input connector lets you connect a CD player, MP3 player, or similar device so you can play along with your favorite bands.

I can't say enough about these Roland HD-1 drums. If you are reading this review and are wondering why not buy them, BUY THEM! I've been a drummer for over 20 years and just stumbled onto them and suddenly realized, hey, I don't have to tune them, I don't have to wonder if the sound isn't world class coming from my cymbals, or tom toms, or bass drum, or snare, and I don't have to worry about anyone else listening in! Kind of like being able to eat watermelon without the seeds! Priceless.

Comments about Roland HD-1 - V-Drums Lite All-in-One Electronic Drum Kit:
This is a high-quality e-drum set. The pads, pedals, and over-all construction are great. The snare has a real drumhead feel. The internal sounds are great for practicing and playing for fun but if you are wanting to record/create music, I would recommend using this set to trigger a more realistic/pro VSTi drumkit. The reason for this is because you would get a much better velocity response (the internal velocities are bacically 2 or 3-tiered with an audibly electronic sound difference, in other words; hitting the pad harder produces a new sound). When you line this up with others in it's price range, it is definitely a top contender.

We are using this kit for a small church. The HD-1 does the job.

Comments about Roland HD-1 - V-Drums Lite All-in-One Electronic Drum Kit:
I use HD-1 for triggering DrumCore, Superior Drummer or any drum sound in my concept studio. I purchased HD-1 so that my drummer can lay quick beats on MIDI instead of trying to match some of the samples to our songs. Initially, we were using an Alesis percussion trigger or mapping the MIDI drums, which is time consuming. With HD-1 we can play with live drums that generates dynamite results. I am not a drummer, but I also own an acoustic kit, which we use in our practice studio. I had very limited space in my concept studio and HD-1 fit the bill.

Comments about Roland HD-1 - V-Drums Lite All-in-One Electronic Drum Kit:
I grew up (age 6 - 26) playing acoustic drums. I've played cheap kits and expensive kits. I was very skeptical of any electronic drums having experienced beginning rubber pad technology of the early 80's. I was always impressed with the later developed "mesh" heads of Roland sets for their feel and responsiveness. Now an old dad, looking to introduce a practical beginner set for my teen, I went back an forth over cheap acoustic v.s. electronic. Seeing the mesh head for the snare and what looked to be well designed, sturdy construction - I took the "leap" on the somewhat expensive price. Very pleased! Easy to set-up and great response and sound.[...] Great product price [...]. Thanks.

Great playing and sounding drums. Only issue is bass drum pedal. Not as fast as I would like. Makes double hits very difficult, but for rehearsing and recording they sound great. could use new sounds to replace the experimental ones.

I play these in church as well as shows they are lite and there is enought sound variations(10 drum kits)to cover anything I have been requested to do as far as different music styles. The set-up in what ever venue you play-clubs-private jobs or churches is the fastest I have ever dealt with. The drums are carried in to the job then you go back for the amp/pa and bring it in to the job and
plug the amp in to the electric and that's it your ready to play after two trips to the car to unload the gear! Also there is NO TUNNING and RETUNNING of the drums which is a really big plus. They always stay in tune!
