The Ansmann Power Battery Grip is a powerful and versatile accessory for the Canon Digital Rebel XT or XTi camera. It replaces the standard battery source with its own built-in, rechargeable, high-capacity battery pack (non-removable). In addition, it provides a vertical grip, which makes holding the camera in the vertical orientation as easy and secure as in the horizontal position.
The built-in rechargeable Li-ion 2200 mAh battery eliminates the need of having to charge and carry around multiple battery clusters. The built-in battery can be used for thousands of pictures before having to be recharged.

Comments about Ansmann Power Battery Grip for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT & XTi Digital Camera:
When I upgraded to the Canon 300mm F4 IS lens, this big, image-stabilized lens just devoured my standard batteries. I could go through four in one shoot. The camera would just die without warning, sometimes at the worst moments while shooting. The Hansmann Battery Grip handles the power demands of my big lens with ease and recharges quite quickly. The camera balances well. The shutter release in the grip is a plus. When handholding, I use it shooting horizontally as well as well as vertically as it seems steadier to pinch inward on the grip to click the shutter than to push down from the top. This has been a super upgrade to my camera!

This adds weight, but surprisingly makes my Rebel XT easier to hold. Considering that I bought it for that reason (Rheumatoid Arthritis), that alone would elicit a good review.
However, not having read the full description carefully, I was ecstatic to discover that there are shooting controls on the grip itself, which makes it easy to shoot in a portrait orientation.
Needless to say, it seems to hold a charge for an extended period. I have charged it before going out for a long day of shooting - but, only because I haven't gotten a sense of just how long it will last. By the way, charging time is under 30 minutes (way under.)

i've shot about 2500 images on a full charge and i'm STILL at full power. it's a comfy grip, and serves it's purpose very well for the price. the only thing it's lacking is a vertical shutter release, but at the price...it's hard to complain.

Comments about Ansmann Power Battery Grip for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT & XTi Digital Camera:
The battey is not bulky and I'm used to using both the 650 and the A2 film cameras. The A2 being a lot larger than the XTi that I use the battery on. However, it is a little on the heavy side and changes the balance of the camera. The plus is you don't need to recharge every night when you are vacations and it doesn't cost much more than a spare battery.

This is a great addition to my digital Rebel. It gives me an easier grip to hold my camera vertically. I don't have to worry about my battery dying on me in a middle of a shoot.

Makes carrying 3 or 4 extra batteries a thing of the past. I would definitely recommend to a friend. The only downside is it takes 6 to 7 hours to fully recharge.
