I had the old version of this tripod, the new one seems to be at least as good probably exactly the same thing. except the color was black and seemed a little more rigid (which is a good thing)overall best tripod at this size for the money. use with small ballhead and slr with wide angle zoom 16-35 2.8

Comments about Giottos QU 500B Mini Tabletop Tripod:
I looked long and hard for a tiny, light tripod for travel that could hold a DSLR, and isn't crazy expensive. This is the only one that fits the bill.
Now I can take pictures at night in cities, and it fits in my camera bag.
Its much simpler, lighter and stronger than those full featured mini tripods.

Comments about Giottos QU 500B Mini Tabletop Tripod:
This is the best TableTopTripod out there. Ive used them all and they are all great but this ones the best!
I use it with a Leica M, an XPan, GF-1 and a Sony PCM-D50 Pro Field Recorder and sometimes use it for mics too.
This is the best one because its really Super Solid. Its physically airy and light, and yet has full palm handling as opposed to finger control on other small gear like digital point+shoots.
I have a nice small kit bag which Ill take on day trips and within that I have my actual camera bag with recorder camera+film and two of these TableTopTripods work as tripods and handles for the recorder or Mic.
They are Light.

Comments about Giottos QU 500B Mini Tabletop Tripod:
This is a great tabletop tripod. It only has one height but how many do you really need for a tabletop tripod anyway? It holds my Nikon D300s with a 70-300mm lens which is more than I can say for other tabletop tripods. Most seem to be made for the point and shoot type cameras but this one can hold some weight but isn't heavy to carry.

Comments about Giottos QU 500B Mini Tabletop Tripod:
Taken for what it is, a mini tripod, this is excellent. Stable and solid when dealing with flat surfaces. It can be used in more challenging settings but because it doesn't offer variable leg spay/angle or such, it isn't like setting up a regular full sized tripod. Of course it isn't. The fun is being creative when not presented with a tabletop flat surface to place it on.
Wish it had a bit of height at times so you might also consider the version with the removable center column.
I have it paired with a Bogen/Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head holding a 5D with 24-70/2.8.

This tabletop tripod boasts a 11lb rating... When I first received it and put my 5D and 85 1.2 L2 on it, it feels pretty sturdy. It is so handy and sturdy I rarely go anywhere without it - super light in my backpack.
Have fun
