The Manfrotto 306 8' "Stacker" series of light stands is sturdy, but lightweight. Each stand in this set of three has three sections, two risers, and has legs that cleverly fold flat - so you can pack 7 stands in a lighting kit in the same space as 4 traditional units. A built in catch lets you clip two, three or four stands together; add a shoulder strap for easy carrying, and the limit is merely what weight you can manage.
Stacker stands are also available in plain brushed alumninum finish, or with steel construction. This is Bogen's old catalog #3321B.

Junk. The lever does not work to keep the poles extended. Over time I have stopped using them on lights, they will not support any weight. Now I am at the point where they do not function as supports for a green screen. Like the other review, I have resorted to blue painters tape to lock the poles up.
I have tried every socket wrench available in a machine shop to find one that will fit on the nut on the back of the locking lever. Nothing fits because the socket hole OD is too small.
The stacking feature is great, other Manfrotto stand sets have thumb screws and do not suffer from the same problem. Avoid this model.

I bought these for location work. Easy to handle, and the stacking feature makes trasport easy.
I did find he rubber connector hard to use. More muscle needed than should be necessady. I actually substituted a velco strap to hold them together. Works great.

I bought these light stands with the Manfrotto name, hoping to just buy a light stand that works as advertised out of the box.
I do really like the stacking design. They all connect together for easy transport, and take up less room than conventional stands.
However, there is a huge problem with the levers that hold the stand extended. In order to get the desired lever tension, you are provided with a plastic hex wrench to hold the lock nut. I cannot tighten the lever enough to keep the stand extended with a speedlight and a soft box. Eventually the plastic lever strips out before the nut can be tightened enough. There is not enough room in the countersink to fit a conventional socket wrench. So my only solution to keep the stand extended is to wrap gaffer tape around the shaft.
Obviously, this is completely unacceptable.

I like that you can stack all the stands together as 1 group.
