Comments about Panasonic VW-BN1 DVD Burner:
This product works exactly as described. Now it just takes a few minutes to burn a DVD from my Panasonic SDR-S7 camera. I love the camera too, so small and intuitive. Especially nice for travel. The burner is very simple to use, small enough for all components - cord, instruction book and burner fit in a gallon-size hefty zipper bag with room to spare. I highly recommend both burner and camera!

Comments about Panasonic VW-BN1 DVD Burner:
I use the product to clear off SD video cards from an HD video camera. It's basically one touch recording and is very easy. The videos are great when they're finished. It's also very compact and easy to carry around.
There are two major flaws that you can see as a deal breaker depending on your needs.
1. If you don't have a blueray player, you need to connect both the unit and the video camera to watch the dvd's on a television. The unit has no controls, so if you were to share videos with a friend who doesn't have a compatible blueray player you need both devices. On the other hand, if you bought an HD video camera, you should be moving to the direction of all-blueray anyway.
2. There is no ability to combine content from multiple sources on the same DVD. If you had two videos from a birthday party and wanted to put them on the same dvd you cannot. Similarly, there's not much flexibility for menus and dividing screens, but if you have that skill set you should be doing this on a computer and not a stand alone appliance. This is good for lowtech people.

Comments about Panasonic VW-BN1 DVD Burner:
Part of the problem with HD cam corders is viewing the end result without plugging in a camera. This device helps somewhat albeit a Bluray player is required to view the resultant disk. Good feature is that it records to normal DVD-R, about 1 hour. Results are very good.

Comments about Panasonic VW-BN1 DVD Burner:
I use this burner with my HDC-SD9P high def video camcorder. It flawlessly burns DVDs from the SD card in the camera. It's a great way to save clips and take them off the SD card. The only problem I have is if you want to playback one of the recorded DVDs. It is a mess of cables. Playback can only be done through the camcorder. You have the power cable and the USB cable to and from the burner. Then you have the Video Cables from the camera to the TV and then the camcorder won't let you operate this way with the battery so you have to plug the camcorder in with the adapter. Lots of cables, two outlets and where do you put everything while you operate like this. Other than that it is small and easy to transport and I'de still buy it even if I knew this ahead of time.

I own the Panasonic new hybrid digital camcorder model HDC-HS9 and this DVD burner is recommended by the maker. It is very well built, versatile, and speedy writing. By just connecting the cable between the camera the DVD burner, your movies are ready to transfer onto disk. Most of all, price at BHphoto is great !!

Comments about Panasonic VW-BN1 DVD Burner:
I like the portability of this burner. It small enough to fit in the camera bag and I can burn DVD's without hooking up to a PC. I use it in conjunction with my Panasonic SD9 and the interaction between the camera and burner is flawless. I just follow the prompts and the camera and burner do the rest. The only reason why I didn't rate the burner higher is because it takes a while to burn a DVD. I had about a half hour on film and it was about 45 minutes to burn to a DVD. This is my first experience with a burner so that may be fast, I just expected it to be quick since the burner is so slick. Overall I'm very satisfied.
