The Kenko (THK Photo Products) KFM-1100 Autometer is a user-friendly and ergonomically designed light meter for reading both ambient and flash light. This simple and reliable meter is both comfortable in your hand and logically designed, with a minimum of confusing buttons.
The large LCD display reads out in "F" numbers in 10ths of stops and in 1/2 stop increments in a pointer scale across the top of the display. With a shutter speed range of 1/8000 second to 30 minutes, this meter is quite sensitive. In its cine mode, frame rates of 8-128 can be achieved.
As a flash meter, the KFM-1100 can be used with or without a sync cord, and has an aperture range of F/1.0 - f/128. As an added bonus, both flash and ambient lighting can be analyzed to determine the lighting ratio of any scene. This feature is very handy in scenes where a flash is being used to "open up" a shadowed area left by ambient (natural) light.
The meter's "Calculation" function can be used to average measurements that have been stored in memory, very useful in reflected light measurements, to capture highlight or shadow detail more accurately.
The KFM-1100 has two memory "slots" to store previous measurements that can be recalled for reference or for averaging. Just press the "M" button after each reading to store it in memory. If the memory has two readings stored, it will delete the oldest reading to store the current information.

Light weight and good build.
The button is simple and easy to use.
Use AA battery, so dont worry about out of power.
Cons:
Only have Speed priority.
Have to buy flat and reflection caps separate.

Comments about Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light:
I first ordered the Sekonic L-308DC and found the made of the Sekonic really bad - the Buttons feel very, very cheap. This Kenko Meter is a little bit larger than the Sekonic, but not much.
The Meter is the follow-up of the famous one made by Minolta. This meter is intended to be used in the left hand (right hand for the camera). Simple to use and intuitive. The quality is above acceptable (not Leica standard, but o.k.).
The Kenko is made in Japan, the Sekonic in the Philippines. In my opinion by paying 40 USD more for this meter you get a lot more quality. A joy to use in the studio and outdoors. I gave 4 stars (-1) because I shoot quality equipment and I'm a bit disappointed, that construction wise many of the products today are not made as they used to be 20 years ago.

I had a Minolta Flashmeter that I loved but lost. While shopping for a new one I discovered this clone for less $$. Totally impressed! Spend the extra cash to get the spot attachment. Have your model hold a gray card, look through the spot and fire the strobe with the meter. Works quick and accurate. I'm an Art Center College of Design, Pasadena grad. Tried tons of meters, this one is the best. Easy, accurate, and reasonable $$!

Comments about Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light:
This is my first light meter, I found it easy to use Right out of the box. I purchased a light meter because I needed to get accurate exposure on the first try, Very fast. I like that it also measures available light. I give it a four star for its ease of use. Would have given it a five stars if it had a way to trigger the Strobes without using my wireless trigger.

Comments about Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light:
I have used a Minolta V meter for years and the Kenko KFM-1100 is very similar in design. However it's build quality doesn't feel as strong as the Minolta. In use it functions perfectly giving very accurate readings for ambient as well as flash lighting. Just try not to drop it ... you really shouldn't be dropping light meters anyway!!! It's a very easy meter to use and excellent as a teaching tool.

Comments about Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light:
I have used a Minolta Flash Meter since 1981. Kenko bought out the Minolta line and renamed it, but it is still the Minolta Flash IV inside and out. My Flash III lasted 25 years and was dead on accurate. Just like the Flash III, this Kenko meter It is also dead on accurate - if you put one next to another they both read the same down to the tenth of a stop.
It's a no frill's. durable, dependable meter that promises to go the distance.
Buy this meter if you don't want or need extra fluff. It's a no brainer

Comments about Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light:
I am an amateur photographer just starting to explore portraiture work using multiple camera flash units. I wanted a flash meter so I could set my fill and back ground flashes a specific number of f-stops below my main flash. This flash unit allows you to have data on up to flash units a one time. It is easy to use, and has everything I need.

I'm a photography major at the County College of Morris, and was told to purchase a light meter. After a little research I chose the KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter. It's a great product and very easy to understand. It comes with directions and they're very clear and easy to understand. [...] I was only going to use this meter for class, but I like it so much I have found myself using it for everyday photography use.
