The Casio EXILIM EX-Z77 Digital Camera incorporates the cutting-edge EXILIM Engine 2.0 image processing module, and provides 7.2 megapixels of resolution in a camera that exhibits an excellent balance of superior functionality and stylish, compact design. - The EXILIM EX-Z77 provides 7.2 million pixels of effective resolution, so it is possible to crop images and still make poster size photo prints.
- 3x Optical Zoom Lens
- The EX-Z77 has a 3x optical zoom lens, so you will be able to see the finest details and always be in the thick of the action with this ultra compact camera. It also has a 4x digital zoom providing a combined zoom range of up to 12x.
- Exilim Engine 2.0
- The Exilim Engine image processing module incorporates several components in a tiny space, works extremely quickly and saves energy. Thus it offers high resolution, high quality images, high speed performance, and a long lasting battery in a miniaturized package.
- Anti-Shake DSP
- The EX-Z77 features the Anti Shake DSP, which reduces blurring caused by shaking hands or moving subjects by increasing ISO sensitivity up to 800 and using fast shutter speeds, while the Auto Macro and Quick Shutter features ensure that photos are properly focused.
- Face Detection and Auto-tracking AF
- The auto-tracking AF system uses motion analysis technology to maintain both sharp focus and correct exposure for a human face, and the combination of face detection technology and the auto-tracking AF system ensures that, once the focus locks on to a person's face, it will stay sharp and maintain the right exposure, even if the person moves; thereby making it much easier to capture beautiful portraits.
- Best Shot Functions
- The 41 Best Shot scene modes enable selection of the appropriate camera setting for still photos via an easy to understand sample image menu, so you'll be able to take beautiful pictures, regardless of the shooting situation or your particular photography expertise. Simply select the sample scene that resembles the type of image you are trying to record and the camera is configured automatically with the applicable recording mode, Auto Focus setting, and more.
- Enhanced Quick Responsiveness
- Once powered on, the camera is ready to take pictures in approximately 1.4 seconds, and after the shutter is snapped, pictures are taken almost instantly, with only 0.004 second release time lag. The "Direct On" buttons allow quick startup of both shooting and viewing modes, and a one-touch "BEST SHOT" button allows selection of the appropriate mode for any shot. The camera also has high-speed image viewing at approximately 0.1 seconds intervals.
- Powerful Fast Flash
- The built-in flash has a "Rapid Flash" feature that enables three consecutive flash photos in one second, while the "Soft Flash" function reduces flash brightness when taking close-up flash photos. Furthermore, the "Flash Assist" mode compensates for poorly illuminated areas of the shot.
- Movie Mode and Audio Record
- The Ex-Z77 is able to Record movies with sound at broadcast quality using the MPEG-4 H.264 standard that provides an increased compression ratio allowing users to record longer clips without having to sacrifice the quality of their movies, and can continue recording as long as there is memory available. A built-in speaker lets you check the audio as soon as you record it. Other audio features include audio snapshot (with audio recorded at the same time as the image or added later), and a Voice Recorder feature.
- YouTube Capture Mode
- The YouTube capture mode records in next-generation MPEG-4 H.264 high quality video format, and an exclusive software application is included that makes it seamless to upload movies to YouTube in as few as two steps. This technology will also allow users to upload multiple videos at once, making it easier than ever before to share original content online. In addition the camera also includes an eBay Best Shot Mode that takes photos at a size that is image optimized for display on eBay, and for ease of use, the eBay photos are stored in a special eBay directory.
- Built-in and Expandable Memory
- The EX-Z77 has 11.4MB of internal memory so you can start shooting immediately. The storage capacity can also be greatly expanded with a Secure Digital (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) or MultiMediaCard (MMC), so you can save large numbers of photos and record movies in excess of an hour or more in duration.
- Super Life Battery
- The EX-Z77 is extremely efficient in its power usage and includes a high capacity NP-20 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery which provides so much power, that the camera is ready for use at that decisive moment and takes up to 190 shots on a full charge.
- Very Bright 2.6" Color Display
- The EX-Z77 is equipped with an extremely bright and wide 2.6-inch Wide Screen TFT color display. The display is much brighter than that typically found on most digital cameras, so you can easily view your photos - even in extremely strong sunlight.
- Calendar Playback Function
- The calendar Playback function offers a unique way to store your photos. For each day that you have taken a picture, a photo is displayed within a calendar graphic as an example, making it easier to find pictures more easily or you can make a photo diary.
- Icon Help Function
- Many of the EX-Z77 functions are pretty much self-explanatory. However, the Icon Help function provides small, helpful flashes of information on the camera screen that tell you about the setting you have currently selected.
- Direct Print Capable
- The EX-Z77 supports PictBridge Direct printing so you can print out beautiful images without the need of a computer. Just connect the camera to a PictBrige compatible printer and print your favorite pictures the way you want them - it is that easy.

This is being used by an 11 year old. She has had no problems with it very simple to use... Takes very good pictures for the price. But do get some redeye in some of the pictures, not always controlled by the redeye feature. But overall great little camera. Will note this camera had to be replaced once already because it was placed in a simi hard camera case with a metal logo tag on the front of it. Pressure was put on it and it cracked the 2.5 viewer. So we learned to place the camera in a case with no metal tags or at least put it in with metal logo tag to the front of the camera, not on side with viewer
