MADI (Multi-channel Audio Digital Interface) is an audio format that can carry up to sixty-four channels of audio via a single cable. It is available in two different cable/connection formats - SC optical or BNC coaxial. The MADI to Coax Converter from SSL is a convenient format converter box designed to convert the up to sixty-four audio channels bi-directionally between the two formats.
The front panel provides one set of SC optical input and output connectors and one set of BNC input and output connectors. The rear panel features a two pin connector for the internal power supply. Conversion takes place in real time with no latency and no audio degradation. Additionally the unit can be used to extend cable distance coverage from the 50m that the MADI coax format provides, to 2km for the MADI optical format.
