Comments about Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA:
I'm an Antec fan going back many years, so I might be a little biased (power supplies and PC enclosures). Both of my current desktop machines are in Antec cases with Antec power supplies.
I love this enclosure. I am (among other things) a photographer and use it as a backup for 30,000+ photos, switching between computers. It is extremely quiet - I can't even hear it over the background noise of 2 desktops. The build quality is above average. The eSATA is very fast, but that is probably more a function of the hard drive than the enclosure.
I only have one small complaint. The documentation enclosed was apparently for a prior build and did not match the device 100%. Some of the screw locations changed and a few other things. I believe anyone with average mechanical ability should be able to figure it out. The tiny wiring harnesses (internal) were a little hard to remove.
Installation took about 15 minutes and I've had absolutely no complaints since! This product re-affirms my faith in Antec.

Comments about Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA:
I have used these enclosures before and they always fit and work. They used to say only up to a 1TB drive but they no longer say that so I stuck in a 2TB drive. Again works as it should. This fan cooled enclosure is far better than the heat sink type of enclosures that most folks sell. I think forced air cooling is the way to go.

Comments about Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA:
Much better cooling than most external HDs, and allows me to purchase a less expensive internal SATA drive while providing the flexibility of an external. The instruction sheet is all difficult-to-interpret pictures, though. Accompanying text instructions would have been preferable.

Comments about Antec MX-1 Actively Cooled USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5" SATA:
I use the cases for image archives and backup hard drives. The cases keep the hard disks cool. They are also very quiet. On the other hand they are a bit fiddly to install a hard disk in. There are screws that are difficult to install due to lack of easy access. I ended up using a magnetic tipped screwdriver to hold them so I could install them. There wasn't enough room for my fingers to reach where the screws needed to go. There was no reason for that. They could easily have used a longer screw and made the attachment point higher up in the case. By far this is still the best hard disk case I've used that has a fan and I have 6 other styles.
