It took me a long time to find this item from any dealer. Some of my wireless gear is designed to mount via a hot shoe. I just needed places other than on top of my camera to mount it, namely the back panel of the speaker I was feeding with the wireless receiver. This was a simple device that basically did the job. I did have to find my own mounting screws, but it came with screws that would probably have worked for most hot shoe needs.

Snug fit to flash shoe. Good construction. I would have liked to have received machine screws and corresponding nuts as an option.

I suppose if you are using this as designed (with a bracket system) it would work fine. But I used it as part of a DSLR video rig for a mount for my shotgun mike. So instead of mounting it on a bracket- I wanted to screw it on wood. For me- the tiny screws and the holes were disapointingly useless.
Just as most camera equipment it is overpriced- we should get a dozen for this price. But we are left with few options if you need a cold shoe mount.

I needed a mount for a 7" remote monitor for sporting events, and did not wish to purchase an entire kit. All I needed was the shoe to secure to the press box window sill. This worked like a charm.
