Initially I purchased the (much) cheaper 'generic' cable for my new 50D. It worked well enough, but was bulkier than a transatlantic cable. I knuckled under and paid the big bucks for the dedicated Canon HDMI cable and now have a permanent (bulky) cable in place behind the TV (very convenient) and a more elegant cable in the camera bag for use in other locations.

I bought this cable to connect my Canon Vixia HF-200 to my home theater system. This looks like a pretty standard HDMI to HDMI mini cable. In my opinion this is a "must-have" if you want to watch your full-HD videos on a TV during a trip without having to process them first on your computer.
It is a first class product but I think you could go by with a thir-party (and cheaper) cable or, better yet, with a standard HDMI cable and a HCMI x HDMI mini adapter (less things to travel with as I already take a standard HDMI cable to connect my Mac).

We use the cable for personal videos created on our cannon T1i and T2i camera's. It takes the image that would be on the camera screen and put's it on the TV for the whole family to watch. I would highly recommend...

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
The Canon HTC 100 HDMI cables are the most reliable of their type that I can find on the market. I use them between camera (Canon 5D Mkii and monitor) on a handheld rig which is fairly heavy duty use for such a delicate type of connection. They are expensive, but I have not had one fail (and in the same time I have seen many cheaper ones fail after only one use).

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
I bought this originally to view 1080P movies from my Canon 60D. I'm feeding directly to my Sony flat screen and not through my surround sound system so I'm not getting sound, but that's more the system set-up that the cable. What was a pleasant surprise was that it also shows full detail in still photos as opposed to the standard RCA cable that comes with the camera. I wish this came standard, but I guess Canon figures everyone doesn't own an HDTV.

If you want to see the amazing quality of your HD camera, this cord is recommended as soon you buy the camera. It's a decent length and tucks away easily in my camera bag. Anyone who has issues focusing on your camera's LCD, should get this and try to hook it up to a smaller HD tv if possible while shooting.

I needed an HDMI cable for my Canon Vixia HF21. I looked at other cables that were cheaper but opted for the Canon cable. Right length, great quality, and easy plug-n-play for HD viewing. PERFECT!!!

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
This cable s a welcome addition to the Canon HFS21 camcorder. The ability to watch freshly recorded video on an HDTV with no conversion steps is just wonderful. The cable length is more than sufficient, though I guess more length is always better. It was a snap to use and the only step necessary was on my HDTV to enable HDMI as an input. Simple!

Decided to buy the Canon brand after poor reviews of generic cables. Probably overpriced. Haven't had a chance to use on our 1080p TV but seem to work fine on relative's 720p TV.

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
I run from the mini HDMI on cameras, to the regular size HDMI on my converter, or a monitor. I looked at a lot of cables but wanted the Canon product to work with everyones Canon cameras. It costs more but you want it to be fast enough to handle the data a Canon may create. Don't be caught with a lighter imitation.

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
Works great - only reason I gave 4 stars is the mini-hdmi end is a little fragile - but that is what the Canon 5d uses so there is no alternative. I would recommend tethering the cable down so it doesnt accidentally get yanked out in a bad direction damaging both the cable and the jack.

The cable feels very solid, the connector are strong and you can see it is very good quality. The image of my HFS21 is perfect with it. and I don`t need the component + audio cable to connect to my HD TV. All in one cable.

Comments about Canon 6' HDMI Male to Mini HDMI Male Cable (Ver. 1.3) for Camcorders:
This is a must for anyone shooting video in Full HD.
The cable is a sensible 6' in length and makes an easy connection from the camera (Canon EOS 7D in my case) to a High Definition TV. Still photos on your in-camera memory card can also be viewed in full HD.
