When the IRIScard software is running there will be the IRIScard button manager running in the notification area on the far right hand side of the task bar. This small program controls the functions on the scanner itself and give another method to scan.

If it has a red diagonal line over it then the driver is not loaded for the scanner. Make sure the scanner is plugged directly into a USB port on the computer, a hub or docking station will usually not have enough power to run the device.

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Imaging devices and look for an entry for the scanner. If it has a yellow exclamation or question mark, right click on it and choose update/install driver. On Windows XP there should be two entries for the IRIScard.

Once Installed launch the CardIris program go to:

Settings > Scanner > Scanner Model > Choose the first selection Other Models TWAIN and click ok. Then click on Configure to select the IRISCard Color 4 V1.2 (32-32) TWAIN (the non WIA one). Then go back to Scanner Model > IRISCard Color 4

In regards to autoscan, go to Settings > Scanner > Scanner Model and select IRISCard 4 Color (User Interface) click ok. When you press scan, and before you place a card in the reader, click the check box that states "automatically scan card".

Very hard to set up and get working, not many options during set up.

I expected this to be pretty fast using the auto-scan feature but I couldn't get it to work. I finally called tech support and was told "that doesn't work in the new software".

I returned it.

Most business cards these days are not simple and easy for it to figure out. The unusual fonts and logos confuse some of the OCR. So it's just O.K.

I was very happy to find the card reader was able to scan and recognize more info than I was expecting. I do have to proof each one and make adjustments at times but it is way faster than a manual input and the card is saved so I have the picture of the contact and their company logo. It is the size of a harmonica so when i am done using iot I just put it in my drawer . The first day I used it I was going around my office saying " you have to see this " . I would highly recomend this product [...]. This is the first tech review I have ever written but felt compelled to share about this great little device.

Took the product out of the box and the software CD that shipped with the card reader couldn't be read by my computer. So I took it to a friend that has the exact same MacBook and it loaded the software on his quickly and easily.
I had to contact the company and get them to make the software driver available to me for online download (which took a couple of days), but now I have it functioning on my computer and I love the quickness and ease that it reads and loads the info. Export the info from the IrisCard program to my address book software and I've saved many hours of manually inputting contact information for hundreds of clients.
I would recommend this product to anyone that does trade shows or large batch loading into their contact software.

I scanned 3000+ cards with this scanner and they are all in Outlook.

I bought it because the alternative is to pay someone to type them all in and the cost is simply 10 times the cost of the scanner and software. Not a very difficult mathematical equation to me :)
