Comments about Epson MovieMate 72 720p LCD Home Theater Projector:

First off, quality is subjective, in this review I know what is true HD and what is not. We have all true HD TV's like the sony srxd ([@]), but I was looking to set up a backyard theater. It was a tough call on a 720 over an 1020 projector but I wanted something easy to set up and take down again. Although all in ones are frowned upon this had received some great reviews and for the price I thought it was worth looking into.[...]at an extremely good price. I also order a 122inch outdoor screen (not an inflatable). All I can say is wow, the picture quality is awesome, having every thing built in is extremely convenient, no need to carry extra equipment out to the patio (unless you want to). We played a DVD from the built in player on the deck and we all thought the picture quality was great, we then hooked up a blu ray via HDMI and we where blown away. Although the picture is only 720, it was fantastic, you can see the difference between the DVD and the Blu-Ray and trust me the DVD is alone is worth watching. The reason I used the blue-ray is purely medium, all new movies we buy are on blu-ray, if we get the special packs that include the DVD as well we would just watch that in the built in player.Sound is ok but not earth shattering, we're using this on a deck so the sound does not have to travel, you would need a receiver and external speakers for a large group but again the all one makea up for carting extra stuff around. But just to confirm small family gatherings the internal sound will work just fine. So far we have tried Blu-Ray, DVD, Xbox360(hdmi), PS3(hdmi), iPad(component TV-Out adaptor 480p) and our laptops all with more than acceptable picture and sound quality.I love watching movies, but the kids love playing games, I have to admit watching them play call of duty on a huge 122 inch screen was breath taking. They are also playing Alan Wake, a creeper night time game where the hero is running from the dark with a flash light, lets just say outside on the deck at night surrounded by forest adds immensely to the whole effect, WOW.There are so many adjustments on this projector, focus, zoom, lens adjustments left and right as well as up and down (plus feet adjustments). Color modes for theater, theater black, game, lighted room etc, keystone, sound effect etc. More than you would ever need. Over all I would highly recommend this projector, its a great all in one and certainly makes a great first time projector. We liked ours so much we ended up buying another screen an Elite motorized 100 inch so that we can enjoy the projector all year long.B&H once again first rate on [...] price.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 72 720p LCD Home Theater Projector:

I use the moviemate for movies, photo slideshows, karaeoke, etc. Great image quality, even though i am projecting in a gray painted surface. I will be getting a white screen soon, but honestly, it looks great as is. Speakers are enough for small room, when used in backyard, sound does fade out. I connect to stereo or use headphones, depending on how late it is!! Don't want to bother the neighbors. A bit heavy, would have liked for it to have a handle.

I've owned the moviemate for 2 months. I've been showing movies in the backyard and I'm amazed at the detail in the picture. It's got all you need for a quick set up and a real movie theatre feel. The built in speakers are ok, you'll want a subwoofer for sure! but that's all you'll need. My only complaint is the sliding lens cover door. It should be a tighter fit.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 72 720p LCD Home Theater Projector:

This projector lives up to it's reputation. The upconversion of standard DVD's make it an amazing video on a par with the movie theater. The black levels could be better but I suppose it isn't fair to compare it to my Samsung that has 10,000 to 1. I project it on a 119" diagonal screen from about 6 feet away and it is sharp and clear. The darker the room the better. The sound is not that great but it has a built in subwoofer jack and I plugged a small subwoofer into it and WOW! The sound came to life and it's amazing it comes out of that small box.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 72 720p LCD Home Theater Projector:

We purchased this projector in July and have used it to watch about 10 movies. We are projecting on a white sheet. We have used it outside and inside at night. The picture is crisp, clear and bright. We have actually used it with a light on inside our house and could still see the image clearly. The built-in speakers are loud enough to hear everything. It's a bit heavy, but still very portable. I think our only complaint is that the remote isn't backlit.

Comments about Epson MovieMate 72 720p LCD Home Theater Projector:

This is a wonderful all-in-one projector. Wonderfullyintuitive controls, fantastic sound (esp. with an Epsonsubwoofer), tremendous picture quality with upconverting DVDplayer. At first image seems a bit dark at 1200 lumens, butthen I found the brightness control on the remote, and it ismore than adequate (with 4 levels) for most situations. Theenclosed CD .pdf manual answered all our questions once wegot beyond the no-brainer quick start guide.I got this for use in my churches, for both movies forgatherings, but also for documentaries and educationalsituations. Ease of use, portability, and wonderful qualitymake this a wonderful improvement to our old TV style videopresentation. If one wants to show an image to an entirechurch gathering then a brighter projector might be inorder, but you will lose the ease and simplicity of thisgreat design!
