Comments about Diamond XtremeSound 7.1/24-bit PCI Sound Card:
Ordered this to add coaxial SPDIF output to a general-purpose/light-gaming PC. It was inexpensive, drivers installed fine on XP and with only one or two extra steps on Windows 7, and it performs admirably. Don't worry about the reviews citing Windows 7 compatibility problems: as of July 2011, those are resolved.
One tiny little note - the S/PDIF output is switched off by default. You need to turn it on with a circular button in the system-tray utility. This wasn't immediately evident due to a custom interface on this utility instead of standard Windows checkboxes, but as soon as you click the little round "-" button the digital output fires right up.

Comments about Diamond XtremeSound 7.1/24-bit PCI Sound Card:
I used this to output digital audio from a computer to a digital mixer (Yamaha LS9-32) using the S/PDIF port. For the price, this card has excellent output via S/PDIF. (I haven't tried the other ports)

Great value in a sound card. The only issue I had was that it did not come with drivers for Vista, but I was able to download them off the internet. Works well.

I purchased this to use in a home theater PC with a dual core processor and Blu-Ray drive. As with many reviews online, download the latest drivers and install. The sound quality is fantastic! Hooked to a Altec Lansing 5.1 powered speaker setup this card fills the living room beautifully! playing iTunes srteaming radio and the reproduction is crystal clear without any lag or stutter!
