I bought this for the same reason anyone else will. I wanted some more USB 2.0 ports for my macbook pro.
This does exactly what it says it will. I connect my printer, iPod, and memory card reader to it without any problems at all. The light is a bit bright, but only bothersome if you're trying to go to sleep. That's the only "con" in my opinion. This is great.

Although this unit comes with a powerpoint adapter (to plug in to the power socket on your wall) the device can supposedly also receive power passively from the unit it is attached to - in my case a laptop/notebook PC. In practice, however, I found the unit only worked when plugged into the wall.

IT is certainly helpful to not have to unplug and change USB devices to a limited number of USB slots on my laptop. That said, when I filled the 7 slots with USB devices, including an external monitor, my computer kept freezing, as if there was too much data for one port. I switched some things around and it works better. Do not expect that 1 USB slot can handle 7 high capacity devices through this device.

Exactly what I was looking for. I have a large computer desk and I wanted to have a scanner farther away from my tower, with the ability to plug in usb devices without having to crawl on the floor. This works perfect, and since it has it's own external power supply, I don't have to worry about running out of voltage to power usb powered devices.
I would have like to have the USB cable provided with the device to be a little bit longer, but it is the exact length listed.
