The Manfrotto 062-2 Background Paper Counterweight helps to secure the tail end of a roll of background paper as it lays on the floor. It comes in two sections, for 4' and 9' width rolls of paper.

For anyone that has a chain drive system for paper backdrops, this is an essential component. It snaps easily onto the bottom of the roll and allows the photographer to roll and unroll the paper by themselves. Great product.

I bought these because I hated the way my paper would continuously unroll. I had tried a number of ways to stop it...wish I would have found these earlier.
I read the reviews and was a little hesitant because a few people mentioned that they were hard to put on. But I think they were super simple! And they work just as I had hoped they would.

Maybe this thing will break in after a while---it's hard to force the plastic section over the paper and aluminum core at first. I suggest letting the plastic piece extend past the end of the core (and paper) on the ends by at least an inch; you won't miss the coverage in the middle of a 9 foot roll. Then you will have something you can grab onto when it's time to remove the plastic semi-sleeve.
Once in place, it becomes both a weight that prevents curling, and keeps the end of the paper from tearing. It's also a handle by which to grasp the paper to pull a bit more off the roll. The instructions were not helpful.
This thing is very helpful in lessening needless damage to paper, esp. in an educational setting where some users are not wise in the way of handling background paper set-ups.

I found this a bit difficult to dis-assemble at first, but once separated, it was easy to use and very helpful in securing the end of the paper and prevented the inevitable curling. I would recommend this to those that are tired of using weights or light stands to keep the end of the roll in place...
