The good: Built quality is very nice for the price of the unit, the handle has a slight drag to it for a smoother turning(useful for video). The rubber and pin base workd great, monopod have a great height adjustment(up to about 6ft)
The bad: The whole "head" assemble is screw onto the top of the monopod unit, with the panning screw lock down you can accidentally loosen the whole "head" assembly by turning it and dropping the camera. Easy fix is to use a locktite/threadlocker glue on the bolt. Monopod are kind of flexy but i am not complaint for the price i paid

This tripod is worth exactly how much you pay for it. The only real issue i have with it is that the head that swivels horizontally is not very fluid. It either gets tighter or very loose as you turn it. This is an excellent tripod on a budget though. Its solid and pretty sturdy. I love how the tripod head also has a detachable platform as well.

This doesn't work with Coolpix P500. The quick release pad is too large. It doesn't allow the flip down viewfinder to flip down.

The tripod is awesome, just too much plastic. I did have an issue with the Monopod with it getting jammed and not telescoping out when I needed it to work.

I've used this tripod a few times as a back up to a heavier one but I'm starting to use this one as a primary tripod. Its a great tripod for the price and not that heavy at all. If you can find it cheaper... well get it but I doubt that you can beat this price.

Traditionally the 2001UT is my go-to tripod. I've never found a need for a fancy tripod, so the [$] sunpak special was always attractive as a tripod I didn't have to particularly worry about damaging or losing. One downside, though, was its height. I wanted a Sunpak that was a little higher without adding the stupid crank that Sunpak seems to think is a good idea. (Why is this necessary? it's 8 million times harder to crank the center column up than to just pull)So far ths 6601TM is a great upgrade from the 2001UT -- same build, and a little built taller. The monopod is a nice feature, but i haven't found it useful yet.

amazing product, heavy duty, strong, only issue is it DOES NOT come with a carry bag. I don't know if my order was messed up or what, but it doesn't have a bag with it when I ordered. I also love the monopod setting it comes with

Comments about Sunpak 6601TM Tripod/Monopod with 3-Way Fluid Effect Head (Quick Release):
I'm an amateur photographer with something of an affinity for panoramas and HDR photography which necessitates a tripod. In addition, I do a lot of wandering around which means my equipment has to be light and compact. After looking around, I settled on this because it seemed to be the best balance between portability, cost, and versatility. It's easy to carry hiking due to its low weight and is small enough that it can be strapped underneath a backpack without interference. It feels sturdy and I imagine it can support a good deal more than its rated capacity. Lastly, the locking mechanisms for the legs and overall smooth function (including separation of the monopod) are very easy to use.
It does have some negative aspects. For one, a lot of the joints and the locks on the legs are made of plastic. I worry down the road that these may get damaged or outright broken. As others have also noted, the head isn't particularly fluid as described, but is far more than efficient for photography. The quick release plate must be removed from the tripod to install on the camera which can be something of a nuisance especially if you're in a hurry.
Overall for the price I am quite satisfied with this. I can't imagine they get much better than this without spending 5 to 30 times the amount of money. It's a good deal.

-I used this product for long exposure shots and the monopod comes in handy at car events.
-I like the multi-use tripod/monopod, its quick to pack up and the monopod releases easily.
-I don't like the cheap feel you get from some parts. A screw on mine broke about 2 days in while i was just tightening it. But you get what you pay for.

Comments about Sunpak 6601TM Tripod/Monopod with 3-Way Fluid Effect Head (Quick Release):
I got this tripod because I needed a new plate for my other one, and it was going to cost the same amount as getting this one new. Little did I expect this tripod to have fairly smooth panning capabilities, despite it having no kind of real fluid head. On top of that I didn't realize that the center column came out, and extended into a monopod.

If you're the serious kind of photographer who understands when either a tripod or monopod are useful, then this is a good piece to add to your stash. It is as stable as it says - you never want to overload a tripod, your pictures could end up blurry or "sagging." Happy shooting!
