Use this roller daily to transport 2- Canon 5d's and a full complement of lenses and flashes.
It's the only roller beside the hard pelican that is a lighter color and the price is good.
As has been mentioned the bottom handle is too tall so the bag falls over. I actually sawed off almost an inch including the handle leaving two stubs that now support the bag in a proper upright position!
Also some other improvements would be a lockable main zipper for discouraging casual theft, stiffer sides and a rain cover with no logo so you're not advertising expensive cameras!.
Otherwise a good bag.

This is Michael with an amendment to my review from 5/19/2009.I still use this case every day and it gets the job done (barely), but I've dropped some stars from my rating because not only are the zippers failing, but I've been unsuccessful in getting any response from Pelican on the matter. As I mentioned, the zippers are nice and big and have a heavy-duty feel to them. Apparently I'm not much of a judge when it comes to zippers, because three sections of this case just don't close fully any longer. This started happening when the case was only a few weeks old. Sometimes I'm able to back them up and get them to "heal" themselves, but often times they just won't close. Here's a pic taken after the first one failed...[@] Since I took that, two others have started doing the same thing. It's disappointing because the rest of this case is just perfect for me. Unless Pelican responds to this issue in a positive way, my next case will come from one of their competitors. Does it really matter how good the rest of the case is if you can't close it? I will return with another update if this is resolved. [...]

Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
This probably is the best bag I could have purchased in order to travel with my gear. In the main compartment, it easily holds two pro DSLRs with lenses attached, a third lens, an additional camera body, two speed-lights, battery chargers, cables, etc. Many cases will do all that. This is the only rolling case I found that would also carry my 17in laptop and even my iPad...and because the laptop pocket is removable and has it's own carrying strap, everything can easily be carried on a plane with me. I like the fact that it is not black; people just thinks it's regular luggage, not a case with thousands of dollars of camera gear inside.

Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
This case is very sturdy. I had all my gear in a backpack style case but the nature of the backpack just wasn't enough protection, or large enough. It's long enough to fit my 2 Bogen Nano light stands, nice. Also have 3 lenses, camera body, 2 flashes and flash brackets, two trifold umbrellas, rocket blower, 2 AA chargers, 2 Canon battery chargers and a little bag of my little things like gels, tape, and misc. items all in the main compartment with room for at least another body and medium sized lens. The zip on case has a lot of room also, but all I have in there is my 5 in 1 reflector where the laptop is supposed to go.
I like it, I don't think the zippers are weak at all as stated in at least one other post I've read about this case, but time will tell.

I travel by air - this case allows me to carry on two DSLR bodies, 5 lenses, 3 flash units and all accessories plus my 17" MacBook Pro and its accessories. I like the protection it gives my gear and the ease I can wheel it thru large airports as a single case. I just zip off the computer case as I board the plane. The zippers are stiff but that seems to come from the snug fits and heavy duty construction. This case is 100% what I needed.

Great bag that looks good but doesn't scream "thousands of dollars of camera equipment inside." It's a well-made bag with the handles and pockets in the right places, according to my way of thinking anyway. I find it vastly superior to the Jill-E roller bag that I wish I hadn't bought in the first place.

I wanted something that provides good protection for all my gear and can be taken on any airline as hand luggage, this bag meets all my requirements.
In addition it provides good storage when not travelling.
It also handles my laptop, ebook reader, headphones and other things I need on flights, all in a detachable bag I can keep by my seat.
I haven't had it so long, but no signs of wear yet and the zippers are holding up well.
I love this bag.

Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
I was expecting something large, but wasn't quite prepared for just how big this case would be (yes, I realize there are dimensions quoted, but still...).
The detachable (and padded) laptop bag is definitely big enough for a 17" Toshiba laptop (which is a BIG laptop!) as well as a wireless mouse, tablet, as well as all the wires and bits and pieces needed to run it all.
The case itself is very well padded. I managed to comfortably pack 2 Nikon bodies (D300s & D70s), one of those SLR-gorillapods, 2 external flashes in their cases, and 7 lenses (from a tiny 50mm to a much larger 70-200mm)... plus a few other bits, pieces and cables.
My one complaint is that the straps on the outside, meant presumably to hold a tripod, weren't quite up to par to snugly hold a big manfroto/bogen combo.
I was able to take this as a carry-on only on a few planes... the rest of the time I had to either check it plane-side or else have it checked through to the end at the gate (bonus: you don't have to pay!). I was a little nervous the first time it was taken away (cold sweats, panic attack, etc.) but a) I had used those little TSA-approved locks so I wasn't worried about the baggage handlers and b) the bag arrived intact at the other end without a scratch on it - more importantly, the lenses and cameras were sufficiently protected from the handlers' roughness.
Others have complained about the Pelican logo on the front... Most people have no clue what that means and just assume you're dragging around your suitcase like everyone else - except that you're cool enough to have the detachable laptop case (I can't tell you how many people I chit-chatted with who were envious of that!).
Oh, and the rain cover came in handy when I had to walk back to long term parking in the rain... it kept everything nice 'n dry.
Two thumbs up for this!

The versatility of this bag is outstanding. It is literally two bags in one. The main case section (with wheels) has space to store 2 bodies with tele lenses, flashes AND loads of other goodies. There are more than enough dividers to confirure this baby to your personal liking. The front section has two full size pockets (one padded for your 17" laptop) unzips from the main case. You can then attach the heavy duty shoulder strap, to make it a fully functional attache. This allows you to comply with the current TSA carry on luggage restrictions at the airport, and then when you arrive at your destination, simply re-attach the front to the base to convert it back to a single wheeled case. The olive case with leather trim is very stylish and looks like a conventional piece of travel luggage. The ONLY time this case screams "CAMERA EQUIPMENT INSIDE" is when you need to use the rain cover which has a LARGE PELICAN LOG on it - - maybe thieves don't work in the rain?

Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
I was looking for a large sized camera bag that would accommodate my camera plus all my lenses and any extra stuff. I was initially looking at backpacks but since a friend of mine bought one he complained that it's extremely heavy. Then I got to thinking, why when I can have wheels? Boy am I ever happy with my decision too. No way do I have to lug heavy camera gear. This bag even can nicely fit my 17" Macbook Pro. I took it as my carry on during a trip. You have to remove the zipped on computer bag on the face of it before it would fit in an overhead bin but I was fine with that since I like to keep my laptop near me. Another bonus with this bag is there are a zillion places to put things. Zippers and pouches everywhere. I initially wanted the black bag but due to it being out of stock had to settle for the green one. I really like the green one now. The bag is also really sturdy too. Pelican stands up to their reputation on this one!

This bag is a great carry on bag. I got 2 bodies, 2 flashes, 2 gary fong diffusers, 4 lens, plus all the other little gadets, cords, etc. into the compartments. Plus laptop, books and lot of other items. The laptop bag zippers off which you will need to do, in order to put in the overhead. You can also carry this with a strap as well.

Use to hold all my gear. Case holds two bodies - one with 70-200 mm lens attached. Four additonal lenses, flash, battery chargers, extra batteries, lensbaby and accesories as well as backup drives and still has room for my 15 inch laptop. Got this case to supplement the smaller pelican case I use for travel and so far find it excellent.

Was able to get all of my equipment in and still have a little room left. 3 DSLRs with lens attached, a total of 6 lenses one a 300mm 4.0 and one a 70 200mm, both have to sit sideways, a flash, laptop, filters and other misc, equipment. I don't have the problem others mentioned about not standing up. I do lay it down when getting stuff out of main section. Glad I purchased before price increase, [$]

Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
Looked too big when I took it out of the box, but turns out to be exactly what I needed. Three cameras, 6 lenses, two flashes, 4 chargers, diffusers, batteries, disk backups--everything fits. The only downside, of course, is that it is now quite heavy. But thankfully it's designed to be wheeled around, and the wheels are high quality, so weight is not an issue after loading and unloading. Outside envelope can be unzipped to make the bag fit in a planes overhead. Very convenient.
Comments about Pelican PCS283 Large Wheeled Camera/Computer Case (Green):
This is a good case no doubt, but the main compartment is not as deep as the specs would lead you to believe. The lap top case takes up several inches so that the main compartment is only about 6" deep. Which for me meant that a lot of my lenses, flash etc. had to lay down, not stand up as I would prefer. So they took up more space, and I had to stack things on top of each other, not as easy to grab. But if that is ok for you , it really is a nice case for the $. I sent it back to trade for a larger Pelican hard side case.

Really nice case. I've got two camera bodies with lenses attached, six additional lenses, two flashes, and all manner of filters, brackets, memory cards, and straps, etc. and there is still room for another couple of lenses and other assessories. Case appears to be made very well except the extendable handle seems a little flimsy. I really like it and would recommend it to anyone needing a larger case.
